There is a wire that is used to dim the lights on your deck when the headlights go on. You probably mistook that wire for the switched power. You can use a test light to check for switched power. Make sure there is no light when the key is off, bright light with the key on, and no dimming with the headlights on.

Run a test wire from the battery.
If it still does it, your grounds are bad....

If it works, still check your grounds, but that is the best solution.
Use the direct line from your battery
MAke sure it is fused (usually a 20 amp)

Have fun with the new deck.

Thanks guys. And thanks Kj ROCKZ....I did that idea with a lead from the battery. I was a bad ground. I had it on a wire that was not a ground at all. Anyway its to the chassis now and working fine. Thanks again
