AMP and 6x9's

I got a set of infinity kappa 6x9's last summer and had them for about a month before I had to put the car in storage. Well the car is comming back out this weekend. I have a rockford 250 amp that I can hook up to these speakers. Would a amp help to power these or should I just keep them hooked up to the head unit. It seams like the head unit it giving it too much power and I think an amp would be over kill. Or will the amp help in giving it a cleaner sound (and not just all bass like subs). Should I change my amp to the FULL setting instead of the LOW setting like I use for my subs. Hope that makes sense.

How about this:

Infinity Kapps, to amp or not to amp??

i think they would sound better and cleaner with the amp. just don't turn it all the way up. it will definitely be louder and punchier too, but it sounds like you don't really want that. kappas are good though, so good choice.

The main decidding factor should be the power rating on the speakers. If they are rated greater than 40 watts or so, then yes, an amp will definitely improve the sound quality as well as the volume. Just be sure not to over power them.

And yes, set the amp to the FULL range setting unless you want to fry the speakers.
