A/V system plan

This is my plan, this summer I am going to (one way or another) get a 91-92 Z28. I want to leave it all original with some minor stuff that can be switched back to original easily, like maybe a muffler, STB, just little mods like that.

BUT, I wanna put a high tech system in it, with stuff that I allready have I can do it fairly cheaply but here is what I am gonna do.

AV Switch Box

PC for MP3's w/ GPS Reciever for navigation

2 B&W Camera's (Front and back) with infrared lights on each

2 Visor mounted 5.6" LCD screens

6 Disc Changer

Amp for 4 speakers

Amp for Sub

With the B&W camera and infrared lights it will be like nightvision, it would be a fun toy, but it would be just that, nothing illegal.

but I could flip a visor down and with a remote choose mp3's to play on the radio, or find may way on a trip, or see where I am backing into in the ghetto. The camera are really tiny and can be hidden just about anywhere so you wouldnt know they are there on the car.

Sound interesting?

Why the 6 disc changer if you're gonna also be running a PC with MP3s? As far as the A/V switch, you could also use a TV tuner. Most of them have a couple of inputs/outputs and are also controlled by remote. Then you could watch TV too, and they're a little cheaper than the one you posted.

The camera idea is definently cool. But it looks likes those are still cameras. It'd be cool if you could get real time ones so that you could have night vision video of in front of you or to the sides or something. Then you could drive with your lights off, not that there would ever be a time when you'd want to do that...

They are real-time, it would run into the a/v box, that a/v box also has a TV tuner built into it.

I'd just put the changer in cause I all ready have it, and why not just have the capability to play a bunch of CD's.

I have the whole computer, just need the keyboard I am getting and a case for it built. It'll be some fun sh**

that actually sounds like a really awesome idea. The only thing i would say is make it as STEALTH as you can...thieves loooooove mobile video these days. I almost pity the guy who puts an lcd screen in the dash or even replace their rearview with one. It's like they should put directions on how to uninstall it with a vinyl decal so the thief reads them before he smashes it.

yeah it would be fairly stealth, the keyboard is a flexible silicone keyboard that can be folded up, so that will go into the console, along with a trigger/thumb style trackball for a mouse. then the screens when flipped up are fairly well hidden, and then all that would be remotely possible to be seen would be the case built for the computer, just gotta hide that somehow somewhere.

a great site for you guys who want a/v systems to check out is http://www.mp3car.com , there are a LOT of knowledgable people over there.
