Say hi to your gerbil for me...

I personally like hearing Jim's feedback. Because he tells it how it is and knows what he's talking about.

I've noticed that everyone starts to attack Jim when he proves them wrong, which seems to happen often, heh. Almost amusing.

Hey kid, youre new box looks great. Tell your dad its really cool that hed do something for you. Anyday of the week id love to see my parents make me something they know i want, then to buy me something expensive. It shows heart.

Not to mention, it says something great about your father that he sent 40 hours on something for you, rather than banging out some piece of **** in an hour.

And for the children: Who says its better to be able to build a box in an hour anyway? Ive spent way more than 40 hours on things way simpler than a 3rd generation F body subwoofer box. "Go<x>d is in the details" - Mies van der Roe. Id rather build something im happy to say i built in a week, then something i feel could have been better in an hour.

Secondly NOVAD,its extremely rude for you to just chime in and start your pissing contest here, when all someone wanted to do was show you something their father built them. I mean DAMN, to come in here and start this ****? You must have some serious ***** Envy goin on.

Bes217, its nice looking. Id probably take off the handles, but its just preference. Again, thats really cool of your dad, and i hope it sounds killer.

Nobody can make a 3rd gen specific sub box in 1 hr.

novadk13, you should know better. It takes longer than 1 hr just to go to Home Depot/Menards and get the material.

I also work HVAC, AND I'm union (that's why I asked you if you were with Local #265) and it takes ~1 hr to fabricate a 10ft. length of 6x10 duct work.

By the time you get the metal off the rack, cut it in the shear, notch it, put the Pittsburgs on, turn back the short sides for the drive cleats, cut the insultation, glue the insulation, bang in the Grip-Pins, bend the 90s, caulk it, throw it together, and close the Pittsburgs, it takes about 1 hr with one guy. Let's not even talk about 90* L's with turning vanes. Or radiused L's.

Or how about a 6x4 square-to-3" round reducer with a 30* radius bend . . . That's about the equivalent of making a box for a 3rd gen. A lot of math, a lot of measuring, and a lot of fabricating. Not to mention the headaches.

there's a difference in the type of response one can give, between arogance like this:
"believe me dude, you're wrong, i know what i'm talking about...this is how it is"
and then this:
"I know what you're saying...but trust me, it's from my experience"

and i'm no internet tough guy. that comment was straight from the heart. And even if i did say the gerbil comment to your face, what could you do about it....kick my ***? for saying words? thumbs up to you buddy.

Can you show me where I said that? I didn't think so.

yeah, thumbs up to me. I don't go looking for a fight, but I sure as hell don't let people make those kind of ridiculous comments to my face. I have enough dignity to stand up for myself. But the funny thing is, somebody hasn't been childish enough to say that sort of crap to me in quite a few years. That's what happens when you become an adult. Most people stop making childish comments, but I suppose there's always a few.

Go ahead and take all the pot shots you want now. I'm not going to keep replying to this crap. It's one thing when there was still some sort of technical discussion going on, but now the poor kid's thread has been completely hijacked just so we can carry on this ridiculous name calling. Grow up kid. I disagree with you. It won't be the last time it happens in your life.
