your RCA cables could possibly have a bare spot where the wire is touching metal, Just an idea.

the "Zapper" your reffering to is a ground loop isolator.. mine cost about 12 bucks.. however i've also found that with my system i've got a few amps.. been thru a few over the years.. only time i here altenator hum/whine is with cheap/old equiptment.. i've got 2 jensen amps.. 400/4chan 300/2 chan had a pyle 600/2 none of that whined. had a roadmaster eq 100 watts whine and an old alpine 80watt amp.. that whined also.. a ground loop isolator may be your best bet.. also.. where you do you have your ground runto?

let me guess... you ran the power cable in your car from the battory to te back by the firewall and then across to the driver side of the car so the power cable is beng ran by the wireing harness and right by the HEI system right??

What kind of amp is it? This makes a big diff. If you have decent quality parts with good grounds and other connections it shouldn't matter where you run your wires. Also what kind of HU are you running?

Did you say that your ground is ran from your battery to your amp? Try shortening the ground. And like someone else said...if you went from the battery, up the pass. side of the engine compartment, across the back of the engine compartment to the drivers side, try going to the front of the engine compartment instead...going over the distributer and other things like that might be causing a problem w/ it...I never had that problem, but some people have...also, check the ground on your altenator. Could neva hurt. If nothing else, maybe your amp is screwy.

why dont you just sand off some paint around the tail light bolt and ground it on one of those bolts.the longer the ground wire, the more chance you have of getting interference.and absolutely DO NOT RUN A GROUND WIRE TO THE GROUND ON YOUR BATTERY.
and for all of you se3genners out there.my experties comes from working at sound advice.(repairing mobile cd players)
