Opinions on JL 12w3's?

Well im gona get some subs for a system going into my daily driver Cavalier and I was wondering what u guys though of the JL Audio 12w3v2's? I found a place by my house selling them for $450 in a sealed box already wired in series. I was planning on running a Rockford Fosgate Punch 500s (250x2) amp with it. Putting in a higher amp alternator and a Optima. What do u guys think of those subs in that setup. My buddy is helping me pick everything out and getting it all hooked up. He thinks I can hit between 140-145db with it. He had a Jeep Cherokee with 6 12w3's in it that hit 156db (he says it was the loudest truck in Michigan at the time) so hopefully he knows what hes talking about. Let me know what ya think. If everything works out I may be putting a single 10W3 into my IROC (keeping the weight down)

you should be able to get 140+ if the box and the power requirements are dead on.

they are pretty good subs from what i hear, id like to have a couple to play with.

Ive heard they like around 500w. Apparently they work better on lower watts then most other subs work with more power. I guess ill have to put them in and see what I can push.

Are they DVC?? i'm guessing yes. Run them at 2 ohms or as close as you can get or if you get a good amp like the Orion or audion art they can run .5 ohms. no cheap walmart or kamart brand. I'd get a orion 2100, audio art 100HC, or another high end amp. they'lll knock you out off your sock if ever thing is setup right. i used toi have 2 8w3 that kicked 130db and i had a Audio Art amp pushing them. hope to here how things work out

I know a guy who has 2 JL Audio 10W0-4 in his car and they rocked. I haven't heard the JL Audio 12W3's in person yet, but I have never heard anything but praise for the products that JL produces.

I had 2 of the JL 12x3's on a Hifonics Amp in my 86 T/A and it kicked A$$. You difinately can't go wrong with the selection. I still have to put my rear view mirror back up.

Great sub. In that power range I would think those subs would be very happy. I bet that you could find a pair on the internet and build you own box that would fit your car for less money than $450.

I was running a JL 12W6 and a Fosgate 500a2 in my 86.
I was very pleased with the output.
I am not into the loud hard bass though, so I am going to run a pair of JL 8W6's now.

The only things better than 12W3's are 12W6's and 12W7's

Ahhhh,,,, 12 W 7!!!!

$$$$ a 10W7 at a local dealer in a box was $1499 cdn. (probably inflated)
they had it in civic, throwing 1KW and claim to have gotten 142db

seriously... seriously sweet... jls page has install guides and watt charts.... JL's subs are great for SPL... and oh BTW.. happen to sound great as well.. I have 10W0's in my s10 and they sound great.. real tight. 2 12W3's or 6's would be my choice for my TA.. but I have some Allumapro's lined up at a good price.. hard to turn down..
