here is my question

should i get a ported box?

so i was out back putting a system in my friends explorer, of course, i had my car back there too, just to have some tunes to listen too.

this dude drives up in a van and honks, it took three times before i looked up, and when i did i went over there and asked him what was up.

me "is my music up too loud? im sorry about that, ill turn it down"

him "i cant hear myself think in my house, you're shaking the walls"

me "i already said id turn it down, what more do you want?"

him "I LIVE TWO BLOCKS AWAY!!!"

me "lol, i said id turn it down" and walked away

Here's an idea. Why don't you have a little respect for those around you that don't want to hear that crap? People like you are the reason that we all have sound dB laws in our towns.

 

a ported box wont make it softer. you will still get that pesky neighbor with a ported box. just keep it turned down.

 

I think the question is how to **** off his neighbor three blocks away, since the guy from two blocks already thinks he's an a-hole. I'm with you Jim, it's irresponsible behavior like that that gets us all these dumb laws that restrict our hobbies. Can't say I'm not guilty of the same things tho. Once I realized I could set off my brothers car alarm with my stereo I try and do it every time I come home (it's only been the past two days, I doubt it'll last through the week. It's nice bragging rights tho )

Seriously tho onebadwagon, if you want to **** the people around you off, go drive over somebody's cat. If you really want to make your system louder, try asking a realistic and responsible question, like "how do I build an SPL competition system?"

Should you get a ported box? NO If you already need to listen to the stereo so loud ppl are asking you to turn it down when you're working on the car, I can't imagine how loud you have it when you go out for a drive. Besides, your hearing will go that much faster and you'll have to make the music that much louder so you can hear it.
