subs shut off

Well everyone i have a question for yas

every once in a while I'll be driving along and my subs wil kick off for a bit then jump back on again. They only do it after ive had my system blasting for a bit like towards the end of a really basey song sometimes they shut off. Im pretty sure its not a loose wire and i know my fuse is good.

any ideas? I was thinking maybee my amps are gettin to hot. I have the older PPI artist series and that amp runs damn hot to begin with..always has even when my buddy used to compete with it. The other amp i have going to my speakers is fine never shuts off....just the sub one does. They used to make a water cooling kit but PPI told me im on my own trying to find it since they dont make it anymore.....so what do you guys think about the shutting off problem and do yous know where i could possibly find the water cooling kit for the PPI aristist series 600W mono amp and 400.2 amp as well. thanks

It could definitely be the heat...heat + electronics = bad.

if youre driving the subs to the limit, they could be going into either thermal or contact protection, bottoming out the voice coils, or getting the amp too hot, get a fan on that sucker, see if it stops it.

dont let it do it too often, either way, its not good.
