PG system: Is this too much to pay/too high of a price?
Ok, I went to a local audio store and asked him for a roundabout price on 2 phoenix gold tantrum X 12s, a phoenix gold tantrum 300.2 amp, box, and install. He said it'd be right around 1000. Is this WAY too high or just high or what? I don't have any money right now, I'm just kinda looking around... what do you guys think? I was talking to one of my friends and he's like d00d, u r getting raped, etc etc. I want a good setup that can follow me from car to car, and I won't have to buy anything else for a LONG time. I also like the idea that if a shop does the install, if anything breaks/messes up, I can just go in and be like hey, this/that broke or messed up, and they will fix it.
What do you guys think? The brand, the speakers/amp, are they good? Would it be worth it for me to have it installed? I'm not too good with the electronics, I'd probably burn my car down. If I did have them do it, is this INSANELY high or a bit high or what? Thanks.

I wouldnt pay that. The system that I am going to get will be:
2 Adire Shiva Mark III 12s $250 shipped
1 JBL 1200.1 $295 shipped
Build my own fiberglass box $100
I would also suggest doing the install yourself. It really isnt that tough, just time consuming. Just ask questions and it will be fine. PG stuff is pretty good, just not what i am looking for.

PG is expensive, but I love their stuff. The tantrum is their middle line, with Titanium being the expensive and Octane R being the cheaper of the 3. If you want a warranty, you'll have to buy from an auth dealer. Look on www.sounddomain.com for prices. SD is factory auth, so you may want to buy from them and install yourself to keep costs down. A T300.2 is $299, $180 each for an X12. Both have a free shipping sale on them right now.

i wouldnt pay that, i could build a louder/better sounding system for less, i for instance have an eclipse 8051, pheonix gold 900.1, jl 300/4, some pioneer kevlar woofers, two he2 rockford 12s, + wiring.
all for about the same price as those subs/box/amp install.
good deals are to be had, you just have to look hard.
