Alternate Front Speaker Size????

Has anyone put in a different size in the dash other than 4x6? I have heard you can put in a 5 inch round speaker is this true?

You can fit several speaker sizes in there if you are willing to do some major cutting. I was going to install some infinity 5X7s in the dash but there was going to be a ton of cutting so I didnt bother.

I had alot of cutting just to put in my MBQ 4" components. Alot of the trouble is large magnent size on aftermarket speakers. If you could find some slimmer speakers, then that might make it easier. Focal has a slim line you might want to look into. Firebird dashes are harder on the d/side then camaro's so you might not have as hard a time putting in speakers.

u can like the other guys said, but i wouldent bother. i would just make some pods and stick some 6.5's in the doors. easy to do just need a jigsaw and some mdf plywood.

Thanks, I really don't want to do any cutting so I guess I will have to stick with 4x6's. I just always have trouble with them getting hot and deteriorating on me. The little wire that goes from the center cone to the bottom always breaks. I was thinking that maybe a different size speaker would give me more options on quality. I guess I need to invest in some really high quality 4x6's. They just seem hard to find.

Hello from the future! I'm from 2011 and have a set of one of the highest quality 4x6's available! I'm come to tell you not to waste your time or money, they all still suck!

3.5" is about as big around as you can fit in the dash without cutting. I got some up there and have them just on the high pass on my amp. I let the 6x9s in the rear and the 2 10" subs handle the bass.
