What amp would go with these TYPE-R SUBS?

I have an 89 RS and since the music from the exhaust isnt as loud as i like it to be,, i'm gonna put a system in my car. My friends got one ALPINE TYPE-R SUB in his Blazer and it sounds awesome so after shopping around for subs i have found the ones for my car but was curious what amp would go good with these subs thanx appreciate it

I normally would suggest alpine too....but, my buddy has two alpine type r 10s being pshed my an alpine mrd 500. The amp has taken a crap twice. Alpine has been cool and repaired it both times but the fact that he paid like $400 for an amp and he has been without it for 5 weeks because of repairs is not cool. I would suggest kicker, JL, RF, or JBL.

I'm going to go with two Alpine Type-R 12's coupled with a JBL 1200.1

How much power does it put out, what size power wire (and how long is it) is he using and did he wire the speakers correctly? What size speaker wire is he using? It sounds like something is wired wrong for it to go out twice....

Nothing is wired wrong. He is using 0ga power and ground with the propper fuse. He is only running the amp at 4ohm so it is pushing out about 250rms. If it were 2ohm it would be 500rms. It is a mono amp.

That's scary because I may start installing my Alpine amp this weekend..... have some other things to do to the car first, so I may not have time to do it.
