Got the amp .. need the rest
Ok, I got my hands on a sony 800 watt amp from a friend who wrecked his pony. Now i need to figure out what to do with it. I don't want to make my ears bleed but i would like some bump. So my questions are:
1) One sub or two?
2) Size and make?
3) Where to put the box and what direction to face it?
Also I plan to put it in myself. I have decent electrical knowledge so from what I have heard installation is cake .. true?
Thanks a bunch

I have an 89 bird with a 2.8.
Currently I am running 2 10" subs, here is the site showing some info on them.
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...d=&newdeptid=9
I am running a 400W amp (RMS) at 4 ohm. (Rockford Fostgate power series 400a4). They sound ok.
The subs are pointed at the hatch window and they are in a divided box with no ports.
As for size and brand, it really does depend on what kind of sound you are looking for and how much you are looking to spend.
Do keep in mind that power (as in wiring, stiffening caps, etc) should be a priority as stable, clean power is essential for good sound regardless of brand and size.
Usually 8's and 10's are good for kick and high end bass, while 12's, 15's and 18's are better for low end drawl.
Another factor is the air space, the box you make will greatly affect the type of sound you get. Of course the bigger the sub the more air space you usually need.
So you have to ask yourself, what kind of music am I going to be listening to usually.. do I like a hard thump on my back or a low rumble that shakes my veins in my hands.
I hope this helps.
