I posted about this 3 months ago. And that web page is out of date. THE INFO IS OLD.
The GM-X972, GM-X572, GM-X574, GM-D500M are now under FULL RECALL, green dot or not. For these 4 amps the green dot is no longer relevant! If you have one of these models call Pioneer Customer Service at (800)421-1636, they will ask you for the serial number and give you more info.
If you have a GM-X372 or GM-X374 you should still go by the green dot.

Thanks for the update, NeedforAZ! Maybe this message- or better yet, your original message- should be made into a sticky at the top of this forum?

TomP, you’ve got to check my replay on the other post going on. And my last post on this was just if you have a Pioneer, check here. This one has more detail. And Barry85Iroc, Pioneer IS a good company. There are a lot of other manufactures that have much bigger design problems that aren’t doing any thing about their product. Pioneer has seen a problem and is addressing the problem. Truth be told the only ones I’ve seen go bad where improperly installed (trying to drive a 1 ohm load). But because they let off a LOT of smoke when they died Pioneer said better safe then sorry. There are still no reports of damage to a customers car as a result of this problem. The same can’t be said about other manufactures, and there is still no recall on them.

I didn't say they were a bad company. All I said was that I didn't like them. Never have. Had too many bad experiences with them. They were guilty of the same thing you're accusing other current manufacturers of doing. I'm not going to get into a debate over who has the best manufacturing practices, and who make the best quality product, because unless you hand-build your product, and check each one individually, chances are bad ones are going to get shipped. And, unless you make your own resistors, etc. you have to rely on someone else's (?) product, and so on....... THEY JUST DON'T BUILD SH*T LIKE THEY USED TO!!!!!!!! i'LL GET OFF MY SOAPBOX NOW...........

Ya, every manufacture has their problems. And I will say that my opinion of pioneer is dwindling fast. Their last two model releases have been VARY disappointing. They quality is going down hill FAST. It’s a shame, they were one of the best dollar for dollar buys out there. (again, my opinion)
