Single Sub Enclosure Different Idea

Alright....I need to figure out how to fit a single 12 inch sub into a good box in my well and still be able to use the t-tops...i researched this topic and found one for the bottome of the well, however not sure if I can fit a 12...also pulled a pic from subenclosure's.com of a box that fits to one side...like that idea for a twelve on the left side and store my amp next to it in the locking bin on the left wheel well...if anybody has pics of this setup or the bottom well setup (thanks to whoevers pics these are, and I hope you don't mind me using them as examples, take it as a compliment, but if you do mind I can remove them) I would appreciate seeing them...also I'm up for any new ideas too...thanks...

What sub are you useing? I have an e12A in the bottom of the well and it barely fits in both depth and diameter.

mine is 6.75" mounting depth and I had to make a spacer so it would fit. The magnet was hitting the side of the box but I don't think any of the subs you listed uses as big of a magnet. mine is 7.25" in diameter.

BayAreaCamaro setup

BayAreaCamaro I like that setup...its a 12 w3 with what kind of amp?...do you have any dimensions for that box that you would be willing to share? I thought it would be a little tight for a 12 inch sub but yours looks perfect. Hows the sound? Any one else with ideas or pictures of your setup please share...thanks...

If you want the most from a single sub port it. Its more effcient and sounds good when made properly but takes a considerly larger box.

Here's a box I did. You need to copy & paste the pics tho.

This pic shows the box sitting on top of the well before I dropped it into place:

Here it is dropped into place with the cover on it. I wish the flush mount panel fit better, but I had a wood chip in my eye while I was making it, so I lost motivation quickly.

This is my old box...it is for sale....includes the new elclipse aluminum cone DVC...all for $300...the sub alone is $360...I had a single voice coil in there on a JBL 1200.1 and hit 148.3...then we changed it to the DVC, used that for less than a week, then put 2 eclipses and a planet audio in my car and this box has been sitting ever since...it has some water damage on the bottom, but it is still sealed tight and the sub is in perfect condition...I can carpet the whole thing to cover the water damage if someone wants to buy it.

Damn Jim...thats a sweet box...I like how you did that...great for security, makes it look like its just a flat floor...DisturbthePeace...yours is pretty cool too...i'd love to buy that eclipse sub but don't have 300 bucks...oh well...I'm thinking a JBL 600.1 and a 12 inch alpine type r...prob will face up so i can show it off, but then again I'd rather it be heard and not seen for theft purposes...thanks guys and keep em coming...

I like that hidden sub idea, I had thought of something similar but with ports for the bass to reflect off the window as well.

Ideas on that being feisable?

Just a random thought.

Also, what would be best in there?

1 15 inch?
2 12 inches?
3 10's?

4 8's?

LOL

Ideas ?

I dont think you could get one 15 in the well and 1 have it hidden and 2 have the proper air space the sub calls for. Hey maybe someone will post a pic of a 15 done that way.

it looks like you took off your side trim panels to fit the box in. I like the box though.

You can do 1 15" easy... I did 2 18"s!!! (unhidden) and still have 1.8 ft each... sure they need 2.2 but I stuffed the box so I pulled a little back out.

I bet you could do a 15 hidden if you really tried.

Will any of the well sub boxes fit for a convertible well? I have an 88 Iroc Convertible and was trying to figure out how to get a sub into it without getting in way of the top.

Never seen the inside of a convert fbody. I know my sister's convert mustang gt has 2 10"s in it in a prefabbed box and it fit (barely).

fitting it in there to show off...
i sent ya an email about the box, i like the simple design of it.

I'm new to car audio do not know a whole lot. I do however know how to add and multiply. With the 3 12's (assuming single voice coil) at 4 ohms each wouldn't the amp run at 1 ohm load? and on your add the amp says a 1 ohm output of 2250 watts. Your sub ad says that they have a max power of 350 watts. that would mean 2250 watts (assuming thats peak and not rms power) going into 1050 watts worth of sub at peak power. Is this possible? Not to be rude but i was just wondering.

also, is planet audio a good brand? Ive heard that name a few times and was wondering.

speaker ratings and amp rating are very controversial. There is no set measurement for them. I was running a JBL 1200.1 into a single Eclipse, amp maxed out, and didnt have a single problem. The Eclipse is a 500 RMS 1000 Peak sub and the amp is a 1200.1 RMS amp...doesn't make much sense either, but I did hit a 148.3 w/ that setup. As for Planet Audio, they are great amps, subs are decent, and there speakers are good to. I had a friend completely submerge his planet audio speakers in water and they still work (a year later). I am now running 2 of the Eclipse subs w/ a Planet Audio TT1250D and they hit a 151.6 dB. I have on order a TT 2250D and am waiting for it to come in so we can hook it up and see how that bad boy does...I will get some pics of the new setup as soon as I get the new amp.
