looking at sub upgrades, which brand/model do you recomend?

The subs will be used for sounds in metal such as the bass guitar and bass drums. Also every now and then some industrial sounding techno with low, clean loud bass lines. Right now my box is cut for 10s and I'm thinking I should keep it that way. 10s are a bit cheaper, rumor says the bass is tighter though that may depend on the quality of the larger speaker I would assume. I'm only looking to spend 100-300 for each speaker, posiibly 300 the way things are going now. So I'm looking at some brands here...

>Alpine (type Rs)
>JL
>MTX

So all and all for the best price and most power and less bs, what do you recomend?

For those who havnt seen my box yet, its a fiberglass box that fits flat into the hatch storage compartment (tech name for that?) The air space is not seperated and the box is sealed. Right now I have one sub setup in the downfire position with reversed polarity.

from hear say i would say the alpines are the best bet for your aplication. if your listening to heavyer metal with double bassing and such id say get a sealed box. it will sound tighter then a ported box.

check out the coustic subs, retail for about 120$, handle alot of power, and sound pretty damned good,

3 inch voice coils, rubber surround, REAL carbon fiber cone (i think they look gay, but do you look at your subs or listen to them?)

i had a type r, it sounded good, and hit hard, but didnt fare well to 700wrms.
when it blew, it took my amp with it.
