Its just a rollout cover that rolls from the back of the rear seats and connects to the top of the hatch lift, so that it covers up everything in the hatch area. I guess for security purposes.

I think I have seen yours before. The only other 91-92 Z28 I have seen is a red/white. I guess that is you?
I go to Tech and work there as well, and live right across campus so I hardly EVER drive. Seriously I put like maybe 5-10 miles a week on either my truck or my car.
Edit: BTW if you havnt checked out my webpage, its in my profile.
I had my stereo box made (for my truck) at Stans, so Im probably going to take the car there as well.
I really like the little glove box back there (sorry, that sounds retarded, but im still new to the car, and im use to boxes up front). Hopefully the box they build for me will be big enough for the subs, but not cramp the glove box area.
Hatch box? whatever its called.

Burn EM: I used Vinyl that I got from a local fabric shop. Goes a long way. It's a bit tough to stretch and get the seams, but it's not that difficult. I used 1" backing foam under it to give it a nice cushion and an inlaid speaker look. Looks very clean in my opinion

hey how much is stan's charging you for that box? they tried to charge me over $200 for a box made out of mdf for 2 12's ported. you should go to custom sound works, i went there to get a quote on a custom built box for my camaro and they told me $100 for a ported box, but then one of my friends w/ a 84' Z28 sold me his box he got from Dallas, i would post a pic but its dark right now. but ya, my car is red w/ grey interior. and i actually live in Idalou but spend most of my time in lubbock.

They want at least 200 bucks for a sealed box to hold two JL W6 8 inchers.
They built my truck box and looks really good (even though when I stopped by to pick it up, the glue wasnt completely dry - almost knocked me out driving around with the smell, even with the windows down).
Ill have to put the box on hold for now. Im getting new alarm and tint installed right now.

For those that dont know, Lubbock is a dirty *** flat city in the middle of cotton fields (some within the inside of city limits). Everyone thinks they are the bomb here (including bobby knight).

ya lubbock is like that. but i paid $50 for my box, and my friend that had it before got it from dallas for $75. but you should go to custom sound works for you're box because the quote i got was for 12's, and you could prolly get one for 8's cheaper. but anyways, here's my box, 2 Alpine 12's in a sealed box.

Pushing the entire enchalada w/ an Alpine 7995 Head Unit...SUPERB!
Thanks for the props!

hey SweetRide45, how did you know how long to make the tubes inside, assuming you have them right? did you just experiment? It seems that a porthole would increase audio output especially since our audio is very directional reflecting off of the hatch like that.

I can easily get into mine, but I cannot open it 100%... prolly about 80%... I still fit a power inverter, two discs(frisbees), brake pad boxes, tons of cables, my old 4x6's, and one of my service manuals... with no problem getting all that out in an instant. My real problem is where do I put all my big stuff? I have a toolbox 3"x1.5'x1'... which I sit in the rear passenger seat, and a tool bag, electrical tool case, and a 2 million candlepower spot light, which I put in the space between the box and the back seat.
I still take my t-tops off in a rather different manner. I have the bag completely unhooked and rolled up in that space between the box and the seat, and when I take 'em off I stuff them in the bag (which is upside-down) and I turn it around so the long adjustable straps go towards the seats. I wrap the straps around the bag and down into the hooks next to the seats, and tighten them, then the bag will not touch my subs no matter what. I still think I should get some grilles just in case. Man that really craps out your higher bass notes though, but its worth it.
You can tell in the pics that space is limited, but its hella worth it, I love having 15's. BTW I mounted my enormous Autotek 4160 in the spare tire well, WITH the spare tire next to it. I imagine smaller amps are even easier to do this with. I'm glad it doesn't overheat, but I will probably make a custom rack when I get some more amps, as well as comprehensive theft insurance .
edit: I sometimes drape the bag over the backseat to hide the hideous rips and tears in the back seat. I don't know how they got so bad, considering that the previous owner even had tint.. Oh well.

does anyone have a thirdgen that doesn't rattle like a can when you give it any bass? I know mexicans love this sound... but I'd rather project bass or not have it at all... I don't know if I need some foam insulation, or just tighten down every bolt I can find...

okay... I meant MOST of them... and I definitely didn't mean that to offend anyone... if you hang out at a sub shop its obvious... even the shop owners will tell you, and I spend at least an hour a week at this expensive sub shop... but we can drop the subject... it was about the rattling.

At least where I just moved from "hispanic" vehicles rattled all day long.
