cap question

i knwo alot of you dont like caps but i had one in my old car and it made a huge difference so i am going to be putting one int he camaro. yes i will be upgrading the wiring and charging system also. and i know that its 1 farad for every 1000 watts but my question is should i put the cap before the distro or get two and put them after the distro? the system will consist of a KX800.4 amp and a KX 1200.1 or 600.1

Well, I'd either get a big mo cap before the distro like a 1.5f or 2f, OR have like a 1f after for the killer big amp (I posted in the other thread, we have matching amps ), then a 0.5f or 0.75f for the smaller amp.

Now that I think about it, I'm thinking you may want a cap for each amp - I think that's going to give you the best performance results.

you want the cap as close to the amp as possible.

unless youve got some mad amp sucking amplifiers then there is no need at all to get two amps. i have yet to see many installs in 3rd gens that would need 2 caps....and unless you have a really bad amp for your front speakers there should be no reason at all to use a cap with it. im running two amps right now and i have no problems at all with drawing to many amps from my battery/alternator. regardless ive only got about 550 watts, but it sounds like you may have a bit more than that

well i kinda figured i wouldnt need two caps but i do have two amps. and i was just wonderin if it would be a better idea to have the cap before or after the distro. i was thinking along the lines of 1-1.5 farad

Place the cap as close the the amp as possible. The longer the wire, the less effective the cap will be, and dont place a fuse between the cap and amp. There are special cap connectors that act as a dist block so you can hook it up to multiple amps, just make sure to use short cap-to-amp power wires. Less the 6" would be ideal.

anyone know of a cap with a distro on it that takes 0 gauge and splits it into two 2 gauge lines or a 2gauge line and a 0 gauge line.
