Not a very smart question....
4-Channel AMP Question
But still a question none-the-less
Can a person wire 2 6x9's, and 2 subwoofer with 1 amp, a 4-channel amp??
More specifically, can it be wired so that the 6x9s are still in stereo, but the subwoofers are bridged/mono???
All from just one 4-channel amp??

Like everyone else said, very do-able.
I have a 4-channel Eclipse amp and I have my back 6x9's on one channel and bridged my subs.
The only problem you might have is if you don't have a non-fading preout on your hu. If you do, sub's RCA goes to that, and the 6x9's RCA go to the rear out.
If you don't... ya gotta use a Y splitter and do left and left and right and right and you'll be able to fade from side to side, but if you decide to fade to the back, the subs and the 6x9's will go up. Also, you must make sure your amp has a good crossover in it as well
Hope this helped!!

I used to have one of those long red sony amps from mid 90's... it was way UNDER rated... and it was also a 4 channel stable down to 1ohm, or 2 ohm bridged stereo... thats more than most high priced amps can say... I picked up an autotek 4160 and its only stable down to 4 ohm bridged stereo... and I've seen many jbl and kicker amps that are the same... so you can't always bash sony all the time... these amps also run cool to the touch... no matter what. the only problem is there is no built-in protection circuitry so you have to be not a complete moron.
Thanks everyone
I'm running a (puts flame suit on
) SONY mp40. It doesn't have a non-fading preout on it so i'll have to get the y-splitter. Anyways, i'm not sure how much power my speakers will be getting
I'm thinking about getting the Rockford Fosgate Power 551X amp.
Specs:
70 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
140 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
275 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode at 4 ohms
2-, 3-, or 4-channel output
4-ohm stable in bridged mode
Tri-Way capable
So if I run my 6x9's in stereo (which are rated at 100w RMS each), they'll be getting 70w RMS each correct??
How much power will my subs get if they are bridged? I was really hoping they'd be getting 275w each but then they confused me with the 4 ohms bit

I'm sorry what are the specs on your subs? ohms?
I'm willing to bet they are 4ohm, just like your 6x9's... the best thing to do would be to run every speaker off of a separate channel... or bridge half the amp, and run your speakers in series, I believe that will bring it down to 2 ohms... which is more than your amp wants, but I bet if you just put your gain way down on that side then you would be fine... but I would do that at your own risk... unless your subs are 2 ohm... then you will be fine.

if he wires the subs in series, that would creat an 8 ohm load, and would me he would be getting about 140w rms with the back two bridged.
you dont want to run subs in stereo, and you keep saying "stereo bridged" and there is no such thing, to an amp.
and yes, you CAN always bash sony, they have earned their reputation, so they can live with it.

I just wanted to know if I can bridge my subs and keep the stereo sound in my 6x9's if I power them too. All speakers are 4 ohms. By bridging half the amp i'm not even sure what kind of a total load i'd be running on the amp...
I don't know how much power they'd be getting if I went with the rockford 551x amp either
