question about hooking up my highs.
Putting my system together now. here's what I've got so far:
2 Orion XTR 12's
Orion Cobalt 200.4 amp
Kenwood 3 way 6x9's (170w)
Stock 4x6's.
I have the subs bridged, and the 6x9's running off of the other 2 channels of the amp on HPF only. I have 2 crossovers for the tweeters (Orion 18db/octave). Only problem is that the crappy head unit I have (sony xplod) only has 2 sets of RCA outputs. I have the front set going to the input on the amp to run the 6x9s and the rear set of RCA's powering the subs. I have another amp to hook up the 4x6's with the xovers, but how do I do it without a third set of RCA's on the deck? Can I split the rear RCA's somehow to both the subs and the 6x9s or am I just SOL and need a different head unit?

you can get rca splitters, my deck is worse than yours it only has one set of preouts, so i had to get two splitters, get 2, 1 female to 2 male splitters, and hook the 4channel off teh one RCA, but you wont have teh ability to fade between your subs and 6x9s once you do that

My deck has 3 sets of pre-outs and I still only use one. Sometimes the simple answer is the right answer.
In your case, I'd buy the rca splitters from Radio Shack, and run the sub and the FRONT speakers off the same signal. That way your front speakers and bass always stay the same, and you can just dial in however much rear fill you want.
But for *** sakes, buy new front speakers. Most of your sound comes from the front... that's where most of your money should go.
Anyway, the tweeters themselves can just be parallel wired with whatever speakers you're putting them with, whether it's the 4x6s or the 6x9s. Tweeters don't consume enough power for the impedance change to have any effect on the amp.
