good radio?

hey guys,

a while ago i scored a front and rear set of blaupunkt speakers for my GTA (for under $100 i might add lol). the fronts (4x6, not installed) are 105 Watts max/35W RMS and the rears (6x9, installed) are 80 watts max power/40W RMS...

as of recently, i've been looking for a good reciever for under $170-$200. i've been looking at the KENWOOD KDC-122, and the sony CDX-R3000 and CDX-L510X for CD/radios. i've also been looking at tape decks too. mainly the sony XR-CA350X. nothing too fancy just something that plays out of all channels and is better than my crappy delco radio. i seriously want to punt this thing!!!

so what reciever is good for these speakers?

I agree stay away from sony.

I would also go with panasonic or pioneer both have good deals on decks. Clarion also makes some inexpensive good decks. Just Please stay away from sony its just eye candy

i got the new deck today. i went with kenwood and got their KDC-205. nice little deck that has all the basic function without all that remote control and sirius radio ready stuff. very good basic radio. MOSFET 50Wx4, plays CD-r/rw's, 200W max power, System Q...not bad.

as far as wiring goes, everything went cool except for the antenna input wire (thick, black wire with the needle at the end). the hole is too big and will not hold the needle in. i was thinking i should just bridge the size gap by wrapping it in in electrical tape so it stays in, but i'm not sure. is there some kind of attachment that goes onto it so it stays in?

Do NOT do the electrical tape thing. You need a GM antenna adapter. You can get one almost anywhere, even Wal-Mart.

Seems like sony has fallen to the "make it cheap and sell it by the name" marketing thinking, Their stuff really went down hill.

I agree with the sony part.

It really depends on how much money you wanna spend, me personally I go for Alpine

Tho only other deck I would buy is Pioneer.

I have owned 3 alpines, and i love their controls.

ditto on the pioneer

I've had a pioneer for 5 years. Radio reception was BETTER than my factory POS, and it was in 3 different cars... nice power, nicer price. I'm looking at upgrading to a P450MP or a P4500MP

The only other brand I would consider using is Alpine, but their radio reception stinks... every Alpine I ever helped install needed a signal booster... but the sound/quality is great with them as well

Alpine all the way. I have the 7995 and it ROCKS. No built in amps, so they have more room for putting WAY better pre-outs on it...has it's own DC to DC converter...had to turn the gains on my amps WAAY down b/c of the better signal quality
