Voltage loss from front of the car to rear
I have a rather hefty amp hooked up to my electrical system a soundstream rubicon 1000-2. And when i got my new battery yesterday the guy tested the alternator. It made good power. The new battery definately helped my voltage drop. By 1 or 2 volts. However, the voltage still drops. I didnt do the big three yet or check my grounds. (going to do that tonight) I'm rather sure that will solve quite a few problems.
I was just curious if there was a "constant" if you will, voltage loss from a 4 gauge wire around 8' long. (from the battery to the amp) If thats the case i will try eliminating that by putting anohter battery in the glove box in the back. Possibly even a cap.
The man did say my stock 105 amp alt was working properly... Even if it was putting out only 60 amps. I have a 40 amp fuze right now (being replaced with a 100) and that rarely blows.
Any suggestions on locating the voltage drop would be greately appriciated.

Voltage drop is usually grounds.
Too many grounds, too long a ground cable, too small a ground cable (Power and ground wires really should be quite close in guage) other than that, usually old or rotten wires etc.
Or do you mean a dimming of lights during bass notes?

mine did that (realy badly) until i got the new battery. i saw on a different site a guy sold a 5 farad cap for 150 i think it was. that would power an entire system and then some!
