i need help figuring out the wiring for my new system install.
hi,
getting things together for my system in my s-10 extreme, and i have did a few install's in the past, however they were all straight forward, and im going with a rockford fosgate punch hx2 10 dual 4 ohm,and looking for a amp,the sub handle's 250 rms at each coil,so a total of 500 rms,1000 peak, know im wanting to wire them in the way the drops the impedance down to 2 ohm's,i know how to do that via jl audio's website, but my question is if i got say a rockford 401s amp,
100 W x 2 @ 4 ohms
200 W X 2 @ 2 Ohms RMS
400 W X 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS
if i bridge the amp so that it is 400x1 @ 4 ohms, and then just wire according to jl's site and i would have 400 watts into each coil right??? whats messing me up here is the 400 is @ 4 ohms, and the the way to wire the dual 4 ohm sub would put it at 2 ohms,i also have a component set installed, not hooked up yet,but it's a infinity reference 6.5,i have another amp in my beater i could use to power this, however i would rather power the sub,and component. with one amp,and i was thinking of a 800.4 rockfordfosgate for that, however im totally loss with trying to wire everything up,because the comp. are single 4 ohms, and i know i could bridge the other two channels, and power the sub,but i dont know weather i would need to have it @ 2 ohms or 4 ohms would be fine,i dont know much of nothing about ohms,i just know the lower the ohms the more power that comes out....please help me out here, thanks alot.
phil
and any reccommendation's on what i should do,and i wont be adding anything else to the system just one sub,and a comp. set, probable some video system later on but nothing else in the audio section.thanks again.
