I don’t have one but as far as I know ALL in dash DVD/monitors have the parking brake input. This really is no big deal. It’s just an input that needs to be grounded for the monitor to work. Just take that input and ground it. Be careful though, most states have laws about these things. In MD the monitor can’t be on in gear if it’s ahead of the drivers headrest.
most all well built units have the provisions that ask installers to wire the unit so the screen isn't usable while driving. it's a law in most states that makes it illegal for the driver to be in view of any screen at any time while operating. however this is something that anyone with some stereo knowledge can bypass and get it working at all times. just be prepared if it's illegal in your state.
as far as the sound quality properties. typically these units are designed with many components in mind. you would use various types of amps, speakers and such to really bring out the sound you desire however higher end units obviously have better sounding pre-amps as well as better components and connections.
depending on what your looking for you can expect to pay anywhere from 400-4,000 for one unit. typically an affordable, yet decent sounding in dash dvd,cd,mp3 unit will run a min of 700 to 1400 assuming you still have to buy the head controller for the unit as well as additional boxes if you want tv tuner and the rest.
i like kenwoods units as they seem to be very low in price compared to all others however i've known many people who have really used their warranties on them. alpine isn't bad but you pay for the name, their newest headunits that use sound and vibration on their touchscreens are really something. eclipse makes really nice headunits and i particularly like the premier version of pioneers in dash components however at 1800 for the piece it's a bit much.

I am just kind of curious about something. Most states, I think, have laws against having the monitor running if the driver can see it. What if the monitor is being used as a navigational tool, could it be running then because the driver needs to see what direction he is needing to go? I was just kind of curious about this. I am thinking of getting pioneers new AVIC-N1. This piece has everything and a lot more.

if its navigation then you can use it no matter what... so what you should do is have a switch to ground/unground that wire, and when a cop pulls you over for playing a movie or whatever (if anyone would do that anyways), just flip the switch and say, "Officer, there is NO way that I was playing a movie, as this player will not operate when I'm in gear."
Also... I believe it's a parking brake, not gear... you can usually click the parking brake a few notches and it will play just fine, without actually using your brakes... So that might be a way around as well.
