speaker wiring question

I am putting a new head unit in and c ant tell the difference between neg and pos when trying to hook up the speakers. no wires have a stripe. Will it affect the sound quality if they are backward?

if all of them are backwards, you wont notice, if some of them are backwards, you still probably wont notice.

You know, With low quality stuff you probably wouldnt notice, But I found out after a few years involved with stereo stuff it really does make a difference. Try hooking up 2 subs off an amp with one hooked up backwards, It will kill your sound...Thats how I found out, I had a friend try to diagnose why my subs werent hitting and he explained it to me, That was 4 years ago!
THE method for determing which way to hook up your speakers is as follows:
hook up the wires to your speakers as normal and mount them where they should go. You're going to have to look up the specs on the headunit in your manual to determine which wires are pos and neg COMING OFF THE HEADUNIT.
Next, get yourself a AAA or AA battery (9-volt will work too, but puts out more power than necessary). Take the two wires coming from one speaker, and connect them to each end of the battery. If the speaker pushes outward, then the positive wire is connected to the positive terminal on the battery, and you should connect that to the positive wire coming off of the headunit. Then attach the other wire to the negative wire off the HU.
If the speaker pulls inward, it is reversed. Attach the wire connected to the negative terminal on the battery to the positive wire coming off the HU. And of course, attach the other wire to the negative wire.
Repeat for all four speakers and you're done. This is the only way to be 100% sure as far as I'm concerned. It does require some splicing though, so be sure to have some tools and shrink tubing available. Electrical tape sucks.

if all of them are reversed, you wont notice a difference, since all of them are still in phase with each other. however, if one is and not the others, you should deffinately notice
