What should I do AMP and SUB question
What should I do AMP and SUB question
I bought a coustic AMP 321QE and 2x10" subs (Coustic bass pump)
Anyway the story goes.. The sales man told me I will be fine running these 2 subs off the AMP and also a set of speakers either my 6x9's or my 6x4's.
So I bought the AMP and Subs got a good deal as well as a wiring kit. Got home read the manual and find out that what the sales guy told me was BS. I specifically told him I most likely will need dual voice coils to run these subs off the AMP cause it says recommended load of 4OHM or 8 OHMS on this AMP in brdige mode. So if I did connect the subs up in parallel I would only get a 2 OHM load not good. That's why I need the dual voice coils but apparently they are MUCH more expensive! Like double.
So now I am not sure what to do. I don't want to buy another AMP as I have spent enough money on it and buying other things on the car.
I spoke to a differnet guy today on the telephone and he told me that even though the AMP can be bridged and run in MONO mode it is not a PURE MONO signal. Said best to buy a just a MONO block AMP. Is this true? He said I can still run the subs off the AMP I have but it will not be optimal.
How would the system sound with just the subs being run off the AMP each have their own bridged channel 160 WATTS as it is a 320WATT AMP. How would it sound crap?
I have a 50wx4 JVC deck.
Also is it important to have a volume control on the acutal AMP for the woofers? Cause I dont see one there so how would I turn down the volume of the SUBS if I did not want too much bass etc?
I don't want to wire anything up as I might just return it after what gets posted up here. But I am dissapointed. I have made the SUB boxes already and was stocked about wiring it all up but this has pi$$ed me off.

I just did some more research and the Dual voice coils subs are the same price
That is the only way I could wire them up to run off this AMP.
They would get 80WATTS each and their operating range is between 50-200 so that should be okay giving them 80watts.
Just if someone could clarify to me do I need a D class mono block to run subs?
Should I try and exchange the AMP to one that has Volume control or not necessary really? If someone could answer these questions that would be good.
