4 8" subs in rear seat!
4 8" subs in rear seat!
I just purchased a 1985 Z28 that my engine and stereo are going into...I bought the car for $200. It needs some work(fenders, nose, etc.) which will be easy to do. My car recently became undrivable so I have it as a parts car.
Anyway, I thought th eback seats looked a little weird so I grabbed them and guess what...4 8" subs were mounted in them! It is a sweet looking set-up that someone put some effort into!
Here are some more pics

You can probably sell those in the classifieds here if you don't want them.
It is kind of cool, I wonder how it sounds?
I like the visible wiring between the seats...classy.

haha you would think after doing all that custom work to make the seats functional still he would have ripped out the carpet and ran the wires nicely. Either way its very cool. I say keep it if you can make it sound good. Put some nice subs with a good high range in them. your 12 should produce plenty of the lows. Turn the 12 to low pass and the 8s to high pass.

that's a bit different than having your back laying against a subwoofer... even if unpowered... I bet it feels uncomfortable...

ah from the pictures it looked like the cloth was really thin right there... and you could even see the outline of the subs... I guess if they put padding in the covers for the subs then it might not feel so bad...

True, could be either way. Hard to tell from pics. Either way it's an intriguing setup.

the idea is cool, but it would be even better if the subs where hidden... otherwise you might as well put them in the hatch area so you can put people in the back seat as well as have a much larger box.... but hell yeah if you can hide them in the seats... and they would actually be hidden... then that would kick ***...
it wouldn't be all that hard I bet... just recover these existing seats without making any cut-outs

m actually thinking about fabbing up my back seat with a 10" surrounded by 2 6*9's , then 2 more 6*9's in the side panels,
only thing i'm wondering is how does it sound?

Wow, just when you thought you had seen it all!! Looks old-school too, what the heck kinda subs are those?
Maybe you haven't found all the goodies yet! There might be a couple amps under the headliner!

OR maybe you will find something inside the front seats..
maybe an LCD inside the back of one fo the front seats.. or as part of a sun visor.
:P
I wouldn't mind knowing how them 8's sounded when they worked. It looks like one of them is kinda shot.
