you're not mentioning anything about the natural gain of the vehicle. sure the box, on paper, may rolloff at a certain point, but the 3rd gen has a serious transfer function that makes up for a lot of it.
just my 0.02...theres a LOT more factors than those just glazed over here...

try a bass tube.....ive got a 10 inch bass tube that fits perfectly in my trunk well ...got it for 5 bucks at a yard sale ....came with an mtx road thunder sub.....changed the sub to a cerwin vega vmax ....it now sounds better than the 2 12 inch subs i had mounted in a box and im only using one sub...ithttp://store.teptronics.com/teptronics/...they have bass tubes in here if u are interested...
