i fear we're being a little too generic here. the box doesn't unload right at tuning, it /begins/ to unload. major effects are noted several octaves BELOW port tuning frequency. so if the box is tuned sufficiently, the major problem frequencies will be well below what normal music has material in anyway. at higher power levels, I always strongly recommend a subsonic filter to prevent issues. either way....

you're not mentioning anything about the natural gain of the vehicle. sure the box, on paper, may rolloff at a certain point, but the 3rd gen has a serious transfer function that makes up for a lot of it.

just my 0.02...theres a LOT more factors than those just glazed over here...

try a bass tube.....ive got a 10 inch bass tube that fits perfectly in my trunk well ...got it for 5 bucks at a yard sale ....came with an mtx road thunder sub.....changed the sub to a cerwin vega vmax ....it now sounds better than the 2 12 inch subs i had mounted in a box and im only using one sub...ithttp://store.teptronics.com/teptronics/...they have bass tubes in here if u are interested...
