removing amp
removing amp
ok since i bought my car every time i turn the car on i get a buzzing/ crakling noise from the left front speaker that slowly fades away. replaced all the speakers and still buzzing. and then one day i was doing a change check under the seats (found over ten dollars in change, mostly quarters, under the seats of my old firebird) any way i moved the passangers seat all the way up and low and behold there is some cheap a$$ amp sitting there any way i just want to take it out, but i know nothing about it. I tried un plugging it from the battery but the speakers just didnt work.
thanks,
Robert

Wow, someone wedged an amp under the seat?? That's gotta be tiny!! You'll have to rewire the speakers so they go to the back of the radio... unfortuantely, there's no way of knowing what else the previous owner did. Your best bet is to remove the sail panel covers over the rear 6x9's and see what the guy did to the speaker wires.
If you want to go back to stock (the radio pushing the speakers without an amp), hopefully the guy left the original factory wires up there. They'll go all the way to the back of the radio already.
If the factory wires are gone from behind the rear 6x9's and dash 4x6's, you'll have to run new wires from each speaker to the radio. It's not a hard job, it's just a pain in the butt. And since you wouldn't be using an amp, you could use the cheapest speaker wire that Radio Shack sells.

Cool; then all you need to do is pull the factory radio out of the dash. At the factory harness you should see where the guy patched the wires in for that crappy amplifier. Cut his garbage out, and re-patch the wires. All you have to do is match up the colors; they should all be there. Use either crimp-on "butt-connectors", or even better, if you know how, use a heat-shrink & solder method.
[edit] Oops, wait, were all the speaker wires green & brown? Here's a chart of what everything is; you might have to roll down the screen to see the chart (I don't know why this happens)
