amp in rear storage compartment

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for mounting an amp in the rear storage compartment? Like how to hold it secure? I searched a few times and couldnt really find any info. I was thinking about maybe making an L shaped piece to fit in there? I dunno, any ideas??

Mine is in the spare tire compartment. It works out great. It's mounted to a board and then mounted to the metal that the jack and spare mount are.

my setup

Well I have been running a my amp in the storage compartment for the past 6 months. What i did was take some of my left over MDF and make an L shaped piece. I mounted my amp on it and then took some adhesive and mounted it to the frame rail (Maybe thats what the little ledge is? I forget) Luckily my amp was small enough to fit through the opening when the comparment was open. I don't know what amp you're using so if it's too big you might have to take of the entire plastic entire interior piece. The two problems I was worried about were overheating and wire placement. The wires ran fine over the tire hump, but they are rather squashed where they go into the amp. (the rca's are bent some because it wouldnt fit perfectly . As for overheating i have run my amp at 75% gain and radio at 75% volume for over 4 hours and it never stopped once. For those interested i have a bazooka 500w peak mono amp. Running 1 audiobahn DVC 10" at 2 ohms in sealed box.

I did this with my first amp, a super-powerful Pyramid Pro 270 Watt! (laughs) What a cheap piece of crap that was, but hey, I didn't know any better.

I removed the plastic along the driver's side of the car to make things easier. Yep, I took that whole piece out!

If I had a cardboard storage box there, I would've taken it out. I had no storage box, so it made things easier.

Then I put a piece of MDF down so it layed flat along that ledge. The amp fit perfectly on it. Then I took a sheet of aluminum (Home depot), cut two long strips, and made "stringers" from the bottom of the board up to the top inside of that quarter panel; there's a flange that sticks out that you can drill thru without drilling the body of the car.

I can't remember how-- or if-- I anchored the side of the board that came against the plastic interior piece.

Then I put that plastic interior piece back in.

I installed a friends amp in his cardboard storage compartment. After he discovered that his rear hatch seal leaked, he picked up the amplifier out of the water that it was submerged in, and set it on the carpet to dry out.

Sumbitch still works, although the terminals are rusty as hell.

The amp I have is an mtx thunder 4250D, which will be power a 10" mtx thunder 6000 dvc sub. Nothing special

The amp fits in there fine, and my hatch doesn't leak
