**LONG POST**
I remember a couple years ago I had a 91 Saturn that i got for $200. My old Nova was dying on me, so I sold it and removed the stereo from it and installed it in the Saturn. A few months later I was living in a house with a trailer out back, and all in all i had about 6 roomates. Kinda crazy, but everyone pretty much got along fine. Well, after being there for about 6 months, i woke up one morning and sat out front for a smoke, and one of my newer roomates walked out front where i was sitting. He said "man, you must be pissed about your car". i looked at him questioningly, and he said "dude, one of your windows got smashed in... i thought you knew." i ran out to my car, and sure as ****. rear driver's window smashed in. i opened the car. stereo still in tact, about 20-30 cds still scattered about. i popped the trunk and saw tools were still there along with my sub. i got real pissed now. who would break my window and not steal anything?? well, another roomate that i considered a good friend, woke up, saw what happened, and helped me clean it up, and gave me the proper torx bit for changing out the window. bought a new one for $40 at the junkyard, but i get everything unhooked, and it's the wrong window. i go back, they give me a purple tinted one (so i had one purple window, the rest clear), and i drive home. i realize that my cig pack is empty, so i reach behind my seat into the netting on the back to grab another pack from my carton of smokes... son-of-a-bitch. they broke a $40 window for a full carton of $22 cigarettes. 3 months later, i found out it was the remote who helped me out with everything. i was pissed. i'd have given him a couple packs of smokes if he'd asked me. oh well... my point is:
people suck. theives suck!

lol, ya most of us have gotten stuff stolen.. When i was 16, i had a kid steal a bunch of stereo equipment from me at around 2am.. I say the time, because i looked out the window and i saw the little bastard doing it. I chased him down (smalltown WI, so i wasnt too worried about a knife.. but i know i shouldnt have done it) and drug his *** to the police station myself. I got an award from city hall
. And i also had the cheif of police tell me that if he would have been a little 'roughed up' they would have looked the other way. He spent about 2-3 years in jail (im not sure, i havent seen him... I had a restraining order put on him so he couldnt come near me, my family, or my families property without going directly to jail for five years) but i wish he woulda been in there longer. After i caught him, they searched his place and found so much drug paraphernalia and other stolen stuff i would have thought he would have had a 5 year min.. oh well

yeah if you could bolt them from the bottom of the car, that would be sweet
In Austin, YOU would have probably gone to jail... simply because you may have EMBARRASED or HARRASSED the guy breaking in your car... or you may have even SCARED him... the lawsuits would never stop.
just make sure he doesn't hurt himself while he's running from you...
I'm still waiting for a lawsuit where I thief sues because someone stopped him from stealing something that he needed the money by selling the item... to feed his children and so on... that would be classic...

Stolen Goods
I had a friend of mine that I worked with come to my house and ask to listen to my stereo, while the little bastard was in the car he unlocked the passenger door when he got out. Later that night he came over and was acting funny, well his brother was in the car stealing my Punch Power 800!!!! This kid was so stupid he cut the RCA's at the amp, pulled the subs out, took the entire board the amp was mounted to, put the subs back into the car, got in the front seat and took the time to unhook the remote bass ****. It was pretty obvious who did it so I went to there house that day and there he was hooking up an amp, he drove off as fast as he could and went to his cousins house, we had called the cops but his mom is a shady theif too so she called the cops and said we were threatening them and trespassing. To make a long story short we about went to jail, the cops questioned us for about 20 minutes while he took the amp out of his car, and in the end they said I couldn't do anything about it and they basically didn't care. So yeah, 99% of the time it's people you know stealing your stuff, 98% of the time the cops don't care, and 100% of the time getting your stuff stolen sucks.

did you get your stuff back? if not post his address on here, something will mysteriously happen to his house.
sounds like he's an ******* and deserves some payback.
I'd do something that gets them both back, since your friend was trying to destract you while his brother actually stole it... both as guilty if you ask me.

the worst is when the scumbags cant get your cd player out and smash your dash up. that happened with my old truck. i had that thing bolted up soo good that it would take a good half hour to get it out even with the right tools. use big tork screws. people see those n step off. but then smash your head unit and the rest of your dash. oh well.

I still like the design that someone on here has where they leave their headunit behind a fake panel that looks like their stock tape player... very good idea

Right now, I don't have my dash totally together yet (I have to replace the heater core and I'm planning on building a custom dash anyway) so at the moment the dash pad is missing, the ducts are out, and there's just wires sticking up where the 4x6s should be. I'm betting that it's one hell of a theft deterrent, because most people don't give my car a second glance.
Of course, not having a radio is irritating too, but at least I don't have to worry right now about some ******** smashing stuff up.

I had my 1980 Camaro stripped while I was on a med-cruise in the Marines. I flipped out until the cop mentioned that insurance would cover the stolen parts. They did, and the Camaro I only paid $2,600.00 for had $2,750.00 worth of new goodies on it within a month and only $780.00 of that was needed to replace the stolen parts... Bright side to everything!!
