the nerve of some people.........

*** damn it i got EVERYTHING stolen last night. The car was right in my driveway it was rediculous. They didnt break any windows or anything and they pulled both 12s AND my baffle board out through the back seat area.........theres like 6 or 8 inches between the top of the seat and the celing and they pulled the whole thing out of there without breaking the hatch glass. deck........stolen........$150 shoes.........stolen........money.......stolen. And ive got a security system sitting right in my room.

P.S. They cut my carpet also right by the passenger side sill. Why would they do that?

wtf??

wait... they opened your side door (with a slim jim I guess..,) and somehow pulled your subs from the rear, over the back seat, out the door?

this must have been very difficult plus be VERY obvious that they are doing this....

I bet they popped your trunk--unless you disabled it(good idea)

Otherwise they are real pro's... and most likely someone you know--directly or indirectly--

--------------

Get this, my brother's truck got broken into 3 days ago, and they busted in the window on the rear driver suicide door, reached in, all the way to the floor and pulled his ragged-*** backpack from partially wedged under the rear seat straight up out the rear window. IN AN F-150 STX!!! The front door was never opened. A $300+ Radar detector remain untouched on windshield, a $100 jacket on seat, as well as a Purse stuffed with money and cell phone lay undisturbed on passenger seat...

I ask--why steal a seemingly worthless backpack, and NOT a sure $200 profit of the detector and purse and jacket?? wtf

they had to have broken in for the detector, why not steal it? weird

its a shame the backpack had a $2,000 laptop in it that day... very amazing that they somehow knew that!

-------------

Just goes to show that thieves can, and will do strange things to get your stuff--- like pull your stuff over the rear seat (somehow)

I am sure that mostly everything stolen is somehow someone you know---most likely a friend of a friend or someone you met at a party that you showed off at or something---or a friend of a neighbor..

What security system did you put in? Because you know that just putting in a little red blinking led is usually enough to scare off kids(many thieves in my neighborhood are little punk teenagers)

Sorry for your loss, and hopefully you have the serial numbers of everything stolen to give to the police--so that pawn shops cannot legally sell the stuff...

-Steve

ya well they definitly didnt pop the trunk because i have no power trunk release, you need the key. And the power wire for my amp was hanging out the passenger side door. These guys must have been so completely obvious. Ya the guy who took your laptop MUST have known that it was in there or why else would he have gone for JUST that......some raggety backpack when theres the obvious stuff to steal. I would say definitly someone you know.

That definatly does suck, but unfortunatly 3rd gen F bodies are on of the easiest cars to break into on the planet. We will not explain how or why to prevent and others/more thieves from learning the way to do this, but it only take a matter of 2 seconds to get into one of these cars.

Yeah, that really sucks. Everyone I have ever known who had their systems stolen had it stolen out of their driveway. I guarantee it was someone who knows you. NOt a friend, just someone who knows your setup, your car, and where you live...People suck!!!

I'd be more worried about those bastards coming back after they cut their fingers.... smashing your car windows and pounding the crap out of your fenders would then be the least of your problems...

fortunately I live kinda in the country now, and we gots ourselves sum guns! yee-haww! not to mention our 4-camera security system, and 6 dogs... no one comes near our house---because they would probably assume we were crazy white trash living in the country... And its best they dont come in in my opinion.

I've had my car broken into so many times in the city---where you'd think people would see it happening... but not a single time have I ever gotten my stuff back, and it's obvious that the police really don't care about your stuff.... not once have I recieved a call for stolen goods, or to check on my case... never...

The worst part is that thieves are usually back on the street within months---even if they've stolen an ungodly amount of goods...

One time I was talking about this to the owner of a garage that kept getting broken into, and he was gonna do his own sting operation and catch the guy, but when he told the police they said he better not do anything or he could end up in jail (they commented on letting them do their job and not get in their way!!)... Well one day the cops actually caught this guy and found tons of stuff, and from what I hear they didn't really give any of the stuff back--- people who had stuff stolen had to call up and ask if they had the item and the serial numbers matched!! -- not to mention that the people would never know if the guy had been caught, and the police never looked back on reports to see if anyone's stuff stolen was a match for stuff recovered...

anyways, maybe it's just Austin, but your stuff WILL get stolen someday. My brother was the last of us to never have anything stolen, and I guess that's the last of anyone I know who is not a victim yet....

Your best bet would be to hide outside with a bat and once the guys get on your property, just beat them into a coma, then they will never remember how they got there! It's simple! -- Just remember, if you don't do it properly, they will come back and kill you... depending on the neighborhood of course.

this is the reason you dont "bump" your system in ANY residential area... period.. all it takes is 1 low life to look out his window, see who it is, call his friends who are bigger low lifes and steal your stuff.

i think it sucks you got jacked.. but honestly.. what the point of having bad hearing, loud music, and getting noticed? when i was in my teens i "had to have a good system".. now im 28 and i could give a rats ***.

but like the other guys said, they knew what they were looking for, could have been anyone: from some one who washed your car, to some one who worked on your car, to some one who heard it bumping in a residential area.. ect.. bring attention to yourself and you are asking for it..

i think you got lucky, they could have stole the whole damn car, stripped it to its bare ***.. now that would really suck

You can't just base the things you own over its desirability to others.

Saying "I won't buy a system for my car because it might get stolen" doesn't make sense when you are a car enthusiast. Then you would have said "I won't buy a nice car and keep it as nice and clean as possible because it might get stolen." We'd all be driving busted-up, rusted-out, undesirable cars and would not be on this site.

(Not that some of our thirdgens don't meet that profile )

It really doesn't matter if you have a system or hot wheels or anything like that. Some people just suck and will steal your stuff if they FEEL like it. I knew used to loosely know people that would be walking by a car or store and just grab something because they could. Maybe that is what happened to this guy. A couple of punks walking by his car and they looked in the window and saw something that they could pawn for smack!!! I really hate people...

ya people are scumbags. I got my cutlass with my crappy lightning audio stuff stolen. The whole car. At the *** damn registry no less...But you know what the past is in the past.

Into another point. Its a good idea to give a false name or no name at all to retail places. Some kid at a car/home audio store had asked my friend what he was powering with a 4 channel alpine he bought and he said 6-9s. The next week a neighbors car with 6-9s in the back window was smashed, then they seen my friends capacitor and got his amps/subs

yea we should post all the tips to not getting your stuff stolen ie safegaurded:
1- no shop needs your real address for any real reason
2- install an alarm or at least a light that looks like an alarm.(anything helps)
3- fake stickers help the fake light idea, but only put one brand lol

I locked my keys in my car and broke into my car with a butter knife. Did you know that you can pry the passenger side window out far enough to reach your hand down and hit the power door lock button? It hurts... but it beats paying $35 to have someone come pop the door lock and break the linkage for you

man that sucks. I hate people. 'swhy I never, ever turn my stereo up (not that it's all that great anyways) but I also tell people it sucks. On my old car, it was actually ok stuff, but i said it all sucked anyways. My new one has all old ghetto stuff, and i tell people that. And I dont even care. I'd rather spend the money on go-fast parts.

heh. it's a lot harder to steal an engine.

if you have nice parts on your car they will get stolen anyways... my friend had a CR-X and they stole the car, and pulled the engine, exhaust, header, and every thing chrome they could find... they pushed the car off a bridge and left it....

UCF1Slider... I know on my car I cannot pull the window that far away from the car... maybe your window needs some adjustment, do they rattle a lot when they are about half-way down?

The easiest way to get into our cars is with a jimmy, but if you don't have one, just use a coat hanger on the remote trunk release.... which reminds me... I should disable that, or make it work only with ignition on.

Did I mention I have T-Tops? I guess that makes a difference because when my window closes, the window just presses against the rubber surround. I was able to slide the butter knife in from the side (rear end of the car) and around to the top and then pry it outward enough to get a few fingers in there. Once I got the fingers in, it was all over.... slid the rest of my arm in and pushed the button.... although I did notice that as I pryed the window out farther (thicker part of my arm) the door seemed to bulge more.

Yeah, my Z28 got broken into 2 weeks ago (FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 4 MONTHS) sitting in a Jewel parkin lot at around 10:00 pm. I would really really have thought someone would have seen something considering i parked IN THE OPEN away from most other cars. I'm probably going to be getting alarm for both my cars now.... any alarms should i stay away from that are no good??

I have some that I would RECOMMEND:

Viper
Clifford

2 of the best quality alarm manufacturers out there.
I have a 2-way remote for my Clifford system and whenever there's an alert for my car the remote beeps... all I have to do is hear that beep and I immediately look at my car to make sure nothing is wrong. It's a very nice thing to have especially if you're parked somewhere you're not familiar with..... or even if you are familiar with it.

put it this way...

it was not a "random act"... they knew what car they wanted to hit and why.

my point was dont bring un-needed attention to yourself if you value what you buy. thats the risk of having nice things.. you need to take into consideration other people suck and will take it. weigh that on the necessity of what you buy, where you live, and finally how much attention it will bring you.

being a car enthusiast is a great thing, but we all take a risk having nice things.

I have a pretty sizeable system in my car now. I think the key to not having it stolen is hideability. I have the stock head unit but I have an 8 speaker setup a parabolic equalizer and 3 amps. The 2 - 8" subs are hidden in the back hatch area and covered by the cargo cover. Although not foolproof a casual thief would look in the car and see a stock system.

I say buy theft insurance...

plus I have t-tops as well... and I can't even get my hand inside the car, let alone my whole arm.... although I need to adjust my windows, because they rattle at half-open... does anyone remember how to do that, or if requires new parts?

safeguard your car:
1. Get a 2-way viper alarm, extra loud siren, interior siren, backup battery, and the GPS locater/cellphone status system.... this calls your cellphone to inform you of a break-in, and can call the police, and tell the location, and let you completely control your car(windows, locks, ignition etc...)
2. Dark tint on hatch
3. disable hatch button
4. getashotgun

or a simple method of protecting your car... buy those $5 blinking L.E.D.s and put it on your dash... I'd bet money that alone would stop almost every casual thief... unless your car is out in the middle of no-where, and they had all day to disssemble your car
--most people would be happy with the self-install $20 alarms from walmart, that open the doors, trunk and have door entry and vibration alarms... that will stop almost any thief...

I got the two-way because I thought the remote would be nice... but unfortunately its not loud enough to wake me up at night, so I'm gonna make my car so friggin loud on a door entry alarm that EVERYONE know's about it... muahaha Could you imagine a car horn singing, several 100+db sirens, some interior sirens, PLUS I wanna hook up my sound system to it, so it will play all my speakers as loud as they will go (without damage)... I guaranfrickentee that no one will EVER break into my car....again

Strobes are must. When I set my alarm off everyone stares at me like I'm stealing my own car. There has to be a visual and an audio alert system to draw real attention other than anoyance.

If you value anything inside your car get an alarm.
Alarm pagers and pepper spray are nice for setting up stings.

F all these Audio Terrorists.

I plan on doing some sort of tasteful white/colored underbody led custom configuration... that would be awesome to have that strobing with the insanely-loud music, sirens and the horn!

but you gotta love the viper GPS system... cuz I would love to track down the bastards who stole my car and let my .45 have its way with them, many times

here are some specs of it.When you demand an ultra powerful horn, the Cannon Ball Express is the one to choose. It gives any truck a true train horn sound. Comes with all required mounting hardware and ten foot length of 1/4" nylon high pressure hose. Produces an ear shattering 152 Decibals. Measures 16 1/4" L x 15" W x 11" H. Choose from either a hand pulled lanyard or 12V solenoid activation system. Ships at 36lbs - OverSized package

too bad you need an air tank for that... might as well just hook up your remote wire on your stereo to the alarm output of the viper...

I saw a TV show once that had that system displayer on a Viper iirc. There was a computer voice that said "you have 5 seconds to step away from the vehicle" and it counted down. When it hit zero, flames came shooting out from under the front doors and up about 6-8 feet in the air... it was awesome. I want a system like that for my car since my tailpipes will be producing flames as well
