8 awg
yes but if you have the money it would be worth it to run 4 gauge wire just incase you decide to upgrade amps later. You can get a 4 gauge amp kit at walmart for like $30-$40 which would work just fine.

2- 20amp fuses, the amp is an mtx 4250d, and the power wire will be from the battery to the locking rear storage compartment, don't know how long that is exactly.

8 AWG is adeqate for 40 amps of current, but not for much more. If you ever plan to upgrade or add a 2nd amp, it won't be enough. Since it's just as much work to run 8 AWG as 4 AWG, and the cost isn't that much different, I would suggest that you just do the 4 AWG and get it over with.

what you should do is get 4gauge ran though the car.
then get a little adapter that audiopipe sells (well mine is audio pipe) that you put the 4awg wire into, and then run 8 awg wire out of to the amplifier(s). its mainly designed of you run more than one amplifier, but its great.
that way no matter what you do, if you upgrade or not, your all set.
