Components Kappa vs Perfect
I am looking to put a set of component speakers in some kick panels on my 92Z. I am looking for some feedback on the sound quality of the Kappa and Perfect series component speakers.
Currently i have a Clarion 845MC, Kappas all around with a small 4 channel Alpine amp. 4X6 plates in front (which i am very dissaponted with) and 6X9's in the sail panels (which sound pretty good). Everybody says to go with components in the kick panels for good imaging so i am considering it. But i want to make the right decision on which series to go with for total sound quality. Or maybe even another brand if i can be convinced. Thanks in advance.

I can't comment about the Kappas, but I've got the Perfect 6.5s right now. I've found the tweeters to be rather harsh, and the midbass lacking. If you search the net, these also seem to be common complaints. Especially about the tweeters.

I am not running nearly that much power. I have a 50X4 RMS alpine amp. Pretty small. How do you calculate RMS? Do add your head unit and amp RMS to get your total or just your amp?

Well it sounds like i am under powered. Should i have my gains set all the way up since i am under powered on both my fronts and backs? I have Kappa 4x6's in front and Kappa 6x9's in the back.

no because if you try to turn the gains all the way up your amp will strat clipping and you blow your speaker.

if the tweeters sound harsh, then you need to adjust your EQ... I've got nothing but praise for those perfects... the regular kappas sound a tad drab to me, (only in comparison to the perfects...)
get the perfects, you'd not regret it.
if the tweet is too harsh, check your headunit/amplifier settings...
