Is that Digital thing a capacitor? I'm curious how much you paid for it, if I ever get one it's going to be an electrolytic from a local surplus electronics shop. They sell those caps insanely cheap.

the two things to the right are distrobution blocks, the one on the top distributes the 4gauge power wire into 2- 8gauge wires so you can run 2 amps (the second amp is on its way). The other distrobution block simply distributes the ground wires.

as far as security, i have the privicy cover fot the hatch, when its on you cant see a thing, plus im getting a viper alarm installed as soon as i put her back on the road.

What's the farad rating? Because the surplus ones run around $5-10 if I recall...

If you ‘must’ use a cap I would avoid a ‘surplus’ one. Caps age.

that digital capacitor is at any local best-buy. its made by rockford fosate and runs in two different sizes. 1 and 2 farad(the ones at best buy). either way your lookin around $200.

the distribusion blocks are a good idea if you run 2 amps. i use one as well. converts 4awg into 2 8awg. its gr8. i have to run 80amp fuses in them though because i blew my 50amp fuse running to my subs. it was interesting.

whast going to go the right side though.. its plain and lonely if u run 21 amps set it up like this :::

those must be some really small amps if you're breaking it down to two 8 guage wires... most good amps have screw-type terminals that accept anywhere between 2-4guage wire.... I run 4AWG to my 640RMS 4 channel... I used to run 8AWG and my lights dimmed...

typically 8AWG is for setups smaller than 300 watts, right?

an 8 gauge wire on a short run is more than enough for most amps, especially when the power source (capaciter) is only a few inches away. for a 650 wat RMS amp, i prob would have done it the same way.

the way I see it... is I don't know a single person that has just bought one amp, installed it and kept it forever... EVERYONE UPGRADES!

I'd recommend anyone who's putting in an amp to put in as big as wire as they can afford/fit... not only is it better to have that bigger wire, in any circumstance, but in the future you won't have to tear your car apart again just to put in a different/another amplifier.

Yeah, electrolytics age, but the cheap brands suffer the most from it. My dad has a box of sealed Sprague 300 microfarad electrolytics that he bought back in the 1980s and they're still quite viable.

if the amp was designed to use 50amp fuses and your using 80amp you are asking for fire or damage to teh amp.

interesting indeed

yup, if an amp blows its own fuse, then there's something fishy...

maybe he means he blew his 50 amp power fuse?

what i meant by that was, my amp is 1000watts at 1ohm. and is stable at that. the amp was designed for an 80 amp fuse.

what i did was drop my fuse down to a 50amp because i wanted to see exactly how much power i was pulling. im obviously pulling more than 50amps because i blew the fuse that i put into that amp. so in other words i had to go back to the 80amp fuse in which it came with.

interesting idea...you know you can accomplish the same thing with your in-line fuse... without having a fuse explode inside your actual amplifier...
