Which pioneer hu? 3700mp/4700mp or 6700mp?

Ok guys, I guess im still in the stoneage. I still have a Pioneer cassette player in my camaro. I want to upgrade to a new Pioneer cd/mp3 player.

Which one do you guys suggest and why?

I have looked at the DEH-3700mp/ DEH-4700mp and the DEH 6600 or 6700mp not sure on the #.

I dont need anything outragious, with bake, broil, pre heat, pots and pans, with crushed ice functions. LOL.

I just want something with more power to go with my 2 12" rockford fosgates and amp. Maybe another amp for some 6x9's or 6-8 midrange.

I like the DEH-4700mp but I like the looks of the 6700mp with the organic blue disp. Is it worth the extra $. I was looking to stay at or under $200. I can get the 4700 for $168 or the 6700 for $236. And yes this is Wal-Marts price.

I did price a alpine unit at a local shop for $200.

I just want something better than I have now. I cant even play cd's right now. lol.

i would go with the DEH-MP6700. I have the MP7700 and love it. With the 6700 you will have 2 sets of preouts and a 3 band EQ. So it will work pretty good for a basic system. But you have to make sure to turn the radio off and go into the setting and turn the rear preout to subwoofer instead of full range speaker or it will sound like crap. The owners manuel will tell you how to do it.

looks like sounddomain has much better prices. Is it a reputable place? I like the 7700mp, looks great.

How good do these pioneer units hold up? Any problems?

I would go for the DEH-P6700mp at lest. If your interested in MP3, the display on the lower models is a pain IMO. If you have 150+ songs on a disk, it can be had to keep track of all of them. I nicer display helps.

Not quite a year ago, I bought a 4700 for someone for their birthday. The guy accidentally shipped me two, and I was able to keep mine. Since I had an older HU, I also installed this in my car. Both of us are having problems with the ejection of the cd. It comes out maybe 2 cm, and then you have to press down on the cd to get it to come out the rest of the way.
In other words, I'd say go for the higher model... they're better built. I know plenty of people who have a higher-end Pioneer and haven't had any issues...

F-BodyFanatic, we are staring to see this on some of the lower end models with some of the new mechs. If there not gray market, at lest one of them has warranty. Send it in and get if fix, it’s covered!

Yep I plan it! But I'm just saying, it's a pita to have to pull the whole dang thing outta the car, and go soundless for awhile. Warranty fixes usually take 3-5 weeks

I did price a alpine unit at a local shop for $200.

find out which one it is cause well, ive been plenty happy with my 9815 alpine does anything and everything for me. But depending on the model. it can be as easy to use as others, but then again it can be more complex (has frequency controls like wimamp) to better tune yoursystem.

looks like im leaning to the 6700. I will see if I can get the model # for the alpine. Im sure it was the lower model. This guy overprices his units.

Anyone having any problems with the 6700?

I think it was either the 9845 or the 9843.
