Is this a good sub box design?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...773975991&rd=1

Is that a good one for a pair of Audiobahns, or do I need a sealed box? I know nothing about porting lol

yea its an alright box but you have to match the specs such as ported box volume of the sub to the actual volume of the box.

without knowing what frequency it's tuned for, it's impossible to know how well it'll work with your subs.

Plus, there's no way that's going to fit right in a thirdgen.

I don't think that box would fit in your back seat.

ya... I know. But, just looking for friendly advice!

AW-1251Q is the model.
Sensitivity: 92.1 dB
Min Frequency Response: 24 Hz
Max Frequency Response: 1000 Hz
Size: 12 in
Depth: 5.25 in

Audiobahn recommends a ported box, with the following specs:
Air space 2.5^3
Port size (1)4x6.9
Port Vel. 7.64%
-3db 33.5Hz
Tune freq. 37Hz
Sub disp. .15
Port disp. .044
Total vol. 2.7^3

Ok, so I need a box with two 2.7cf enclosures??

Going off of their specs you need a box that holds 5.4 cu ft (2.7 for each sub) but imo the ports are very small and tuned to high

Hope you have some tricks you can pull to put a 5.4cf box in a thirdgen.
I think 37 Hz is tuned too high as well, but maybe Audiobahn knows something we don't if they're suggesting that tuning frequency. It's your call.

You could put them in a sealed enclosure - it would be significantly smaller.

Use the T-S parameters in a program like WinISD. If you don't get a reasonable frequency response in a reasonably sized box, then maybe they do need to be ported. Audiobahns sound like crap to me even when they are done "properly."
It's crazy to buy a ported box for a sub that is not tuned specifically for that particular sub. It's easier to buy pre-made sealed boxes because all you need to worry about is the volume of the box.

Once you open the program, go to the "help" menu and click on "how to begin." It has a pretty nice tutorial. You should probably do some reading about Thiele-Small parameters online if you don't really understand them. This website is pretty helpful for that:
