Planning my new system
I'm finally going to start buying stuff to build a stereo for the bird.
I need 2 12" subwoofers and an amp that will fit in the 12"x14" amp rack. I'd like to use one brand for the subs/amp. Quality is also key. So far here's what I've found that fits my criteria:
(2) SWR-1221D Alpine Type-R
Max Output Power 1000 Watt
Nominal Output Power 300 Watt
Speaker Diameter 12"
Amplification Type Passive
Sensitivity 87 dB
Response Bandwidth 24 - 1000 Hz
Bottom Mounting Depth 7.01 in
Mounting Diameter 10.83 in
Connectivity Technology Wired
Alpine MRD-M605
Mono Subwoofer Car Amplifier
400 Watts x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)
Class D Design
Internal, Variable-speed Cooling Fan
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can hook these subwoofers to that amp and achieve a 2-ohm load on each. This would give 300 watts to each sub.
As far as components are concerned, I'll have one set in the kick panels, and nothing in the rear.
Alpine SPR-176A Type R 6-1/2"
aluminum-coated poly woofer cone
cast aluminum woofer frame
air-injected rubber surround
1" silk dome tweeter swivels up to 20° (surface and flush mounting)
2-way crossover (12 dB high-pass, 6 dB low-pass with attenuation control 0, -3, -6 dB)
frequency response 40-30,000 Hz
recommended power range 8-50 watts RMS
peak power handling 200 watts
sensitivity 86 dB
top-mount depth 2-3/4"
Any amp reccomendations for these? Doesn't necessarily have to be Alpine.
