Fried Alpine CDA-7939?

My dad just picked up a new 'vette and has to drive it halfway across the country to get it home. The stereo won't work tho. Apparently the previous owner had someone boost the car and the polarity was wrong. The in-line fuse holder blew apart at the battery, but the fuse was intact.

Dad replaced the holder and checked other fuses, but he can't find the amp and the deck won't work anyways. It may be fried, but I just thought I'd ask for opinions first. The deck is an Alpine CDA-7939. If anyone has any ideas, give me a holler. Thanks.

I'd go back to basics. Make sure the deck is getting 12V on the switchable and constant.

Check the fuses for those lines.

Then go from there.

Hope this helps.

Ya, I tried walking him through the basics - fuses and wires look good apparently. I haven't seen it, so it's hard to guess at.

pull the deck and see if it has the built in amplifier. I know some alpines only had pre-outs. Maybe he just pulled the amp (since you cant find it) and didnt hook the speakers back up to the deck. or it doesnt have a built in amp, so you would have to buy an amp to hook up to the speakers...

Apparently it was the amp that blew a fuse - the deck was fine. I'll have to check it out when it gets here, but some stereo shop fixed it in no time on the road. Thanks for the input though.
