Factory Performance Sound System

While working on replacing my headliner, I thought I would replace the speakers in my sail panels. The problem is that whenever I turn on the bass enhancer or factory sub, iot sounds like blown speakers. Once I pulled everything apart, the speakers were in good shape.
Can anyone tell what is causing the problem?
Any advice on what to replace the speakers with?
If I replace with one set of speakers, which wires do I use?

I wonder what the specs are of an amp like this?

does the amp only power the 'subs'? or other speakers as well?

I know the headunit still has an amplifier in it as well.

you could go the different route, and actually keep 4x6s and 6"s in the sails, just replace them with new, high-quality versions...

everyone pulls them out and puts 6x9s or just components.

I tried hooking 6 1/4" Boston Acoustics to the sub side but as mentioned earlier, they still sound totally distorted.

I'm going the easy route and using BA's in the dash and sail panels and will install a single sub in the well. Just looking for a little more than the factory sound system.

I think it would kick *** to get some good 4x6 plates, and some sort of 6" subwoofer/mid-bass driver and put it in the stock location
