ok just a couple stupid questions!

First off Ive heard of putting speakers in the kick panels. Anyone know what the best way to do it is? I know, everyone is gonna tell me to use the search feature, but i did and you get everything and the kitchen sink, and i still have no clue how to do it. Secondly, how do i set up the wires, do i just branch the wiring to the new speakers from the dash speakers or what? Lastly do I need an amp to do this? Anyone know of a site or book on car audio for dummies? Im a quick lerner if anyone can give me the basics. Im not letting any tech at best buy or anywhere else touch my car!

You *can* run the kicks off a head, but the whole point of going this route is for better imaging and overall audio sound quality. There's little point in gettings kicks unless you are powering them with an aftermarket amp.

I think (but I'm not sure) that most people purchase aftermarket kick panels which are enclosures. I believe Q Forms makes one, but someone with this setup will have to chime in for more info.

So if i want to add apeakers, its a good bet to put in an amp? Where are you guys putting your amps at? And where can I learn how to hook it up?

All of the kicks that I have seen have been custom made. I believe Jim85IROC is in the middle of making some ( for sale I think) and Reznr (?) is going to make them again.

Q-Forms makes a Q-Logic kickpanel enclosure for $150 for our cars... looks like it was from the factory, but I hear they don't sound as good as custom kicks that users on these boards have made from fiberglass..

the reasons are cheaper materials are used during construction, and also the tweeter placement, along with woofer direction are a bit weird...

for the price you can't go wrong.

Best Buy or Circuit City can both order you those Q-Forms, and they are roughly $150 for the pair. 6.5" woofers and a decent amp will make it a real performer.

Some others may chime in, but there are a few members on here that actually sell these. Jim is in the process of designing some, and I know rezn8r just got back from Iraq and will be selling some soon. They may already be ready for all I know.

well to run an amp u need three main wires a power wire that runs from the positive terminal on your batt. to your amp a negitive wire that runs from the amp to a good ground source *i use the braket where the seat belt bolts too* and a remote wire which runs from the back of your head unit (cd player) to the amp...it should be a wire that is dead when car is fully off but is 12 v when ignition is in on position...may also be called the memory wire.
they sell wire kits but i buy my wire seperate and there are many other things to consider as well like the size of wire, caps, distribuition blocks, the type of amp and number of channels, rcas speaker wire etc...but that can be really as indepth as u wanna go just depends on what ull be doin but u will deff. need what i explained then speaker wire, rca wires, and the right size ground and power wire to wire everything up. as for making or purchasing the kick pannels if u really wanna learn there r stickies and faqs on here explainin fiber glass but the materials to do it arent cheap.
