huh?
ok, visited crutchfield to see what all would fit my '91. now I knew for a fact that 6x9s are in the rear. I was searching for a componet system found this "Polk Audio MMC6500 6-1/2" component speaker system" That is a 6-1/2" speaker so i clicked on the "installation details" says it comes with a bracket to make it fit. My question really is has anyone dealt with these "brackets"? Do they really work as easy as they say? also is that a decent componet set? i really wanted a complete alpine system or a complete diamond system, just can't afford that now. just need some tunes to get me through the day. Also am I weird for wanting all the same brand componets? like i want all the amps, speakers, ect. to be the same brand. it just drives me crazy to see like a rockford amp pushing a alpine sub....i guess im ****......i don't know........

This is a bracket I'd love to see.
To answer your question, there's no way a "bracket" is going to get you to fit a pair of 6.5" components into a thirdgen. Kick panels or a hole in your lower door panel is the only way that's going to ever happen.

Ive seen it before, it seems like it would work. I built my own and put 6 1/2 w/ tweet and crossover back there. They sound great, but I need to redo them for cosmetics reasons.

itll work, but it'll sound like *** without a lot of work, and even then it wont be the optimal position for a component set.

As for mounting components in the back, the main reason why "they sound like ***" (aside from lack of midbass) is because you will have pretty bad imaging. One speaker is about a foot and a half away from your head and the other is about four feet away. It wouldn’t be as noticeable if you were planning on just running woofers back there for some extra low end. I especially don't recomend doing this if you're running 4x6's in the dash still.
Have you listened to those speakers? I had a chance to and I didn’t like them very much compared to what else I listened to. Granted, everyone’s taste is different (someone in that thread posted that they had them and loved them), but you should still listen before you spend any significant amount of money. Also, you’re probably going to want to purchase an amp if you’re buying a set of components because your headunit will not be able to adequately power them.
All this is not to say that components can’t be run in our cars. In fact, they are supposed to sound amazing (I will find out in a week or two). The best place to mount them requires some fabrication though: the kick panels.
A picture of Jim85IROC's kicks are attached.

na, i aint listened to nothing yet. i was just looking into getting something beside the sound of air coming in the windows. i do understand that the positioning is not to optimal. i just don't know about all this stereo stuff anymore. its too expensive to make a mistake, and not like the ending product. i guess a trip to a store around town would clear up alot of my questions.

Any bracket kit they sell works, now does it sound good that is another story. The company trys to make installs as easy as possible for its customers never had a problem with any of there adapter brakets.

Oops, my bad. I didn't pay enough attention to realize this was for the back.
The adapter to mount 6.5s in the 6x9 location is just a plate the shape of a 6x9 with the proper holes cut for the 6.5s. It's extremely simple.
But... I'd never waste my money on components for the rear. Put your money up front where it'll matter.

you mean those pressed cloth things? They don't block much sound. For all intents and purposes, it's an IB.

Should work fine. Its all personal preference. Do you want a good soundstage and everything coming from the front? Do you want to be surrounded by sound and have rear sound? Its up to you. For a few bucks, you could always make your own bracket with some 1/4" hardboard.
