Little wiring help with my new 4x6's
ok I got some Audiobahn AS46PQ speakers which are components, seperate speaker and tweeter. The setup comes with a cross over but I'm not exactly sure how it wires up.
The cross over has 2 sets of outputs and 1 set of inputs. They also gave me extra wire as well. The ends on the cross over are matched to fit the ends on the speakers. So inside the cross over is it going to know which frequencies to send to which speaker or what?

Yes, that's the point of the crossover. It filters low frequencies out of the signal going to the tweeter, and filters high frequencies out of the signal going to the woofer.
The crossover should have some sort of labeling such as "high out" or "tweeter out" for the tweeter, and "low out" or "woofer out" for the woofer.

Jim.
Exactly what I was thinking myself, they should be labled but they are not...just 2 sets of wires for the output and it doesn't say low or high pass. Now the connectors on the ends of those wires are different so you can't mix them up, but I was just concerned that the crossover was going to do the same thing for both speakers, instead of high frequencies to the tweeter and lower frequencies to the woofer.

hook a 9 volt battery up to the input of the crossover, and hook a multimeter to the outputs to verify which is which. The outputs of the woofer should show 9 volts, and the outputs to the tweeter should show very close to zero volts.
