Mini PC - DVD MP3 TV Navigation
Has anyone installed one these http://www.xenarc.com/product/cp1000.html
Just curious because as soon as I get some more money I think I'm going to install one. You add a touch screen monitor, therew should plenty of room on the dash for flat screen monitor.
Thanks for any thoughts

Installing the computer end of a carputer is not the hard part, the hard part lies in mounting the screen and developing some kind of easy interface with the pc that doesn't require a keyboard.
Obviously, touch screens are the best way to go but you're going to be shelling out big bucks for a decent one and once that's out of the way you still have to come up with somewhere to put it. The stock radio location seems like the ideal position until you consider shifter location.
The only good solution that I've seen to this is Jim's radio pod. His screen mounts where the center two vents in camaros are. The other option is moving the HVAC controls up some so you have a bigger hole where the radio originally went but this would require a LOT of custom work.
Edit: do you intend on this being passanger eye candy (there's plenty of room over there I agree) or something functional for the driver?

Well my thoughts was to mount the PC where the ash tray is at about a 45* angle and mount the TFT screen with some kind a flexible bracket so I could angle the screen in various directions.
The main thing I want to do is to be able to connect the sound card output to a pioneer stereo unit, so I could play my mp3s that would be on the hard drive. Being able to play DVDs, run Nav software, and even get Wireless Internet outside of a Starbuck would just be a bonus.

Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
I had one in my 89, but took it out as the screen was REALLY hard to see in the daytime. I diddnt run it through any thing just sound card to RCA cables to amps. worked just fine.
