please post pictures of satelite radio antenna installs
like the topic says...getting sirius for xmas.
i have an 88gta with t-tops. i planned on mounting the antenna on the dash or somewhere in the trunk but have read lots of bad experiences. would window tint make the reception even worse?
if mounting outside, where do i put it?

No pic yet, mine is roof mounted midway between T-Top and hatch. It is a through the roof antenna. I actually drilled a hole through the roof, did't like the look of the pigtail going through the hatch seal. Believe it or not It is a Mopar part, but it doesn't say so on the outside.

I'll snap a pic of my location tomorrow after work. I, too, wanted to mount it on the dash or in the cargo area hidden, but why risk bad reception?
I ended up mounting it on the very top of the rear hatch glass, right in the center, above the brake light. When I got the XM package from Crutchfield, I found that the antenna was a lot smaller than I had thought, so I decided it would not be a big ugly sore thumb sticking out. Anyway, you can use adhesive to secure it to the glass, but I actually cut two strips of adhesive-backed velcro and stuck it to the bottom of the antenna. I then cut two matching strips and stuck them to the glass. Makes a pretty secure bond, and can easily be changed later if I want to.
The antenna wire is super-thin, so I snuck it into the car right through the gap between the top of the hatch and the rear of the roofline, and then I pushed it into the weatherstripping heading along the top edge of the hatch and towards the passenger's side of the car. Then snaked it down behind the rear seat back, out from under the rear seat bottom on the PS, under the PS rocker trim, and then under the PS seat where it plugs into one of the XM boxes (my system has 2). I'm happy with how it came out, and my reception is terrific.

Well, I might not be able to get you those pics until Wednesday. I just realized that arriving home from work when it is already dark, and with no power in my garage, makes it pretty much impossible to snap decent pics of the car/antenna.

thanks guys!!!
bull - my third option/idea was to mount it on the glass, up top like you're saying. however, i was reading online and the manual states that it should be on a 12 x 12 piece of metal. if it works for you, i'm glad cause i'll copy you

Where I have mine. Nevermind it's dark and the rust around the glass.

i just lay my XM antenna in the middle of the cargo area (above the rear axle). I've had very good reception that way. I have a slightly older larger version of the antenna though and maybe one of the smaller ones wouldn't work as well this way.

I also just purchesed satelite radio (sirius) and i am looking for ways to mount the antenna without drilling into the body or have the wire exposed to much.
also anyone have pics of there aftermarket reciver installed? i have the option of using the glass mount but was kind of looking for a way to mount it somewhere else
