my system

well i wanted something a lil diff then the typical camaro box so over the summer i came up with this

the system consists of bose speakers all around 6x9 rears 4x6 fronts the enclosures are alumapro bp-12's that i had had in another car. what i did was mount each were the back seats used to be and mad eall the trim panels from 1/2 mdf and covered them in black cloth the 12's run off the almpine amp and the mids/highs off the rockford amp, though at this time i bought 4 alpine type r's that will be replacing the 2 bandpass boxes, im going to put all 4 were the alumapros are now 2 facing up and 2 facing the roof with 2-4 jl 1000/1 amps

thats odd, i've got ONE crossfire vr2000d and a diamond d5 600.2, an excessive amperage 200 amp alt, and a single optima 31 series yellow top (the biggest yellow top) and i get voltage drops. even while driving it drops to around 12v and at idle it drops low enough to shut the amps down. all of my underhood grounds and power wiring, and the power and grounds to the back are 1/0 gauge.
you shouldnt really need to spend all that money on the jl amps, unless you just want the bling. you're looking at well over 2k just in amps right there. for comparison, my crossfire does almost 2600 watts rms at 1 ohm, when i can keep 14.5 volts on it. (revving the engine lol) i paid 500 for it used, because it has been modded to handle up to 18 volts, but they can usually be found for around 400 used. 2 of those would have quite a bit more power than the jl's, cost about half, and not tax your electrical system as bad as the jl's regulated power supply. (although thats a nice feature and the slash series are definitely solid amps)

possibly even something like this

those things are stable down to .0875 ohms DAILY, supposedly even lower for burps. i believe they're rated at 1800 rms @ either 1 or 2 ohms, but do quite a bit more under 1 ohm. within the next week or two there will be a test of one against an orion 2500d on that website.
