tweeter location?
where should i put the tweeters at in my camaro? or the better question would be where have yall put your tweeters and are you happy with it? i have mine currently in the apillars and they are driving me insane they are way to loud b/c of where they are mostly all i hear are highs and i have the treble at -10 on the headunit. i already got another set of apillar pieces so i can move them.
ps. i dont want them in the kick panels b/c i dont want to make/ buy kick panels.
heres a pic of where i have them now.

What else are you running with the tweeters? Dash 4x6s or woofers in the doors or what? Your car domain just showed the tweeters/subs and your sony amp/hu.
Also, you can still mount tweeters on the kicks yourself. No need for an enclosure if you just want to mount tweeters. Regardless, try to get them facing you/the passenger (in theory aimed at the dome light). They way they're aimed right now isn't helping you much in terms of sound quality. Also, spacing is really bad @ the a pillar.
Out of curosity, how are you powering the tweeters and what are they wired to?

Gummie is right on. It really depends on the rest of the stereo. If you just added tweeters to suppliment your stock 4x6s, get them in the front corners of the windshield/dash/a-pillar area, or close to the stock 4x6s. Just don't ruin your dashpad... those are expensive and if yours is in good shape, you don't want to tape stuff to it or drill holes. Anyway, if you've got aftermarket 4x6s that already have a tweeter, you'll find no benefit in adding another set.
If you decide to go to a full component set, then you should definately consider the kick panels. There's no better place to mount speakers in a thirdgen. It helps equalize path length, and allows for the use of bigger, better drivers.

i have pioneer 4x6's speakers and they are wired with the tweeters to the headunit. but i have bass blockers on both speakers so its all treble. i dont want to get components b/c i dont want kick panels b/c i think they are ugly and expensive. the tweeters get too loud where they are though and i want to move them. where would be a good place to move them?

Since you seem to have decent 4x6s, I'd just take out the tweeters. Having 2 sets of tweeters is causing more trouble than it's worth.

well it is kinda an old set of pioneer 4x6's. i want to keep the tweeters b/c it makes more treble which is what i want but the way they are positioned it seems like they are right by your ear.

Which is exactly the problem when running tweeters on the dash.
Try moving them down to your kick panels. You can flush mount a tweeter into your kick very easily. To see if you like the sound with them down there, try attaching them with double-backed tape to see if you like the sound.
In fact, use that method to try them in numerous places to see if you can find something you like. Try them in the far corners of the dash too, but if you do that, get them as close to the windshield as possible. No wonder what you do you're going to get some cancellation up there, but that's the nature of the beast.
By the way, what kind of tweeters are they? If they're cheap tweeters, chances are you won't like the sound no matter where you put them. Your money may be better spent in a decent quality set of 4x6s.

really in all honesty if you have a really good midrange speaker, you dont even need tweeders. like for instance, i have Memphis 4x6's and 6x9's (i'm pretty sure those are the sizes, it's been a while) and they sound EXCELLENT. i have no need for tweeders, it would just be more money to spend.. just throwin' my $0.02 in

well i got the tweeters for free so i would like to use them. and my 4x6's i got for free also and they arent very great. but i have those bass blockers on the 4x6's so w/ the tweeters being right there beside them its just all treble. i would like to keep the tweeters but find another place for them. how would they sound mounted on the carpet area of the center console? like below or a little bit farther forward than the ashtray.

All of those locations present the same problems. The unequal pathlengths and the poor integration with the woofers will prevent these locations from sounding as good as the usual kick panel spot.

Hey I have a suggestion for you guys. Have you ever connected tweeters out of phase on the dash location. I learned this trick from Steven Head, numerous time IASCA world finalist. It works really good for adjusting the staging of tweeters in non-ideal locations. Give it a shot sometime, you'll be pleasantly suprised.
