My 300 dollar (CDN) speakers sound meh!
Ok so here's the deal, I've been fiddling with my car today (since it's march now!) and I'm stuck in an office right now helping my mom out so I've been trolling here.
I've got an audio question for you sound gurus, I have some nice Inifnity 6x9's, but they sound like crap at higher volumes, however, the drivers in these puppies weigh more than the drivers in my 12' Pioneer subs.. They sound like garbage at high volumes, is it because they're being powered off the HU?
Just so ya'll know what I'm running...
Alpine HU, 240W
Stock front speakers (my 6 1/2 components from my 2nd gen camaro don't really fit in a third gen! and don't want to hack the doors!)
Infinity 6x9's in the back, I think they're around 100W RMS, 300W peak.
800W Kenwood Amp
2 12' Pioneer Subs
Now I have a 720W kenwood 4 channel amp sitting under my bed waiting to do in, will putting this amp in make my back speakers happy, as well as a future aftermarket front pair?

gonna need more of a go-get-em attitude if you want to put a 383 in your car!
amp sitting under your bed? hook it up, git r done, find out for yourself.
but yes it will sound better.

Install the amp but don't install it completely. Run crappy power/ground for it outside the car and see if you like it.
As for front speakers, all I have to say is this
Good components will kill the sound of any 6x9 out there.
Also, your headunit is really only putting out around 24x4, not 240 total. It's all in marketing.

See, and now it isn't lying

Thanks a lot for the input guys, um another question, I'm running a huge gauge wire already to my 800W amp off my battery.. if I run another wire from the batt to the 2nd amp, isn't that kind hard on everything? I mean, electricity can only travel as fast as it's smallest connection, any suggestions?

yes. the bottleneck in your electrical system right now is the miniscule wires they use under the hood. upgrade your alternator to battery, battery to ground, and battery to block wires. you dont have to run a second wire, if its big enough you can use a distributor block to split the wire.
i'm guessing your huge gauge wire is 4 gauge, this should be fine for running both those amps. check the fuse ratings on both of those amps and add them together. if its over 150 or so (the current a 4 gauge wire is rated to carry) than you'll want larger wire. if not, you'll want to run something like 2 gauge, shouldnt need 1/0 with those amps. run the 2 gauge to a power distributor block and split it into 2 4 gauge wires.
