another amp?

ok well right now im all set up with a proaudio head unit with multiple pre amp outs and controls everything. i as of now have all 4 speakers upgraded to clarions. i have an audiobahn amp powering a 12" kicker in the back. If i add a memphis amp that is 75 rms x 4 and power all the speakers how big would the difference be and would i need to upgrade the power supply?

i guess it would depend on how much your head unit pushes out. and if you're able to adjust it the way you could your amp. it's probably a four channel huh? i bet you could bridge the fronts and the rears together. get a little more power from the amp.

Sorry but this isn't a good/very informative post. Your average head unit puts out between 22 and 26 watts RMS @ 4 ohms @ 9%-15% THD. I can’t begin to say how bad this is. Any amp is almost guaranteed to sound better (and get a good deal louder) than any stock or aftermarket head unit out there assuming the amp its self doesn’t generate some kind of noise.

He also said the amp puts out 75x4. That should be more than enough to cover 4x6s and 6x9s. I’m not sure why you would want to bridge the front and the rear. Three things would happen by doing this: you would put two 2 ohm loads on a 4 channel amp (generally not a good idea because most 4 channel amps are not 2 ohms stable bridged). You also would lose the ability to fade front/rear, which is generally a good idea to cut back on the harshness of the 4x6s. Finally, bridging wouldn’t give you much more power anyway because it would be effectively cut in half between the two speakers that are bridged to each channel. Unless of course you’re talking about bridging his HU which is also a bad idea...

Sorry to sound harsh but

Edit: you could probably get away with not upgrading your alternator/battery. Do new engine grounds, etc and you should be fine.
