Is this a stock 3rd gen CD deck?

eBay Motors: GM BUICK SYCLONE GRAND NATIONAL DELCO CD PLAYER RADIO (item 8057631995 end time Apr-27-06 11:31:17 PDT)

Doesn't say it, but is that the identical one to the 3rd gens?

No. The dead giveaway is the green lighting, instead of the usual yellow found in thirdgens.

It's missing the mounting tabs on the sides. So no, it isn't a stock 3rd gen deck. But I'm sure you can fab up some mounting tabs.

I dont think thats true. my 85 ss glowed green. That one looks more like a corsica or beretta deck.

Yep.. well I would assume it would technicaly be called a Berlinetta Super Sport. It said super sport right on the side and had every option you could think of V8,rear defrost, rear wiper, fog light, swivel stereo, digital dash, power seats, roof console.. i really loved it but rust eat her.RIP.

Must have been a dealer add on. There was never an SS from the factory.

No it wasnt a added on badge. It said berlinetta super sport in gold lettering that matched all the other badges on the car. It might have been the package name for the berlinetta with all the options I donno but i know it was original.

Weird i messed up the page by adding a link and it wont let me change it back??? plus it deleted all the stuff i typed LOL oops.

aahh your probably right dealer prolly stuck it on there. Heres the only picture i got of it before it got flatened. you can kinda see it in the pic up close its a one piece plastic thing that says berlinetta super sport and looks pretty convincing that its real. hell fooled me and it was my car... i think i might still have it i will see if i can find it. but heres the pic of the green led stereo at least im correct about that
whoa i tried to put in a link and it deleted everything i typed and messed up the page. .. weird.

He is right, no third gen SS from the factory... period.

And the 8?-89 CD players had white lettering with green LCD numbers
And the 90-92 CD players had yellow lettering with green LCD numbers

That will work fine in any year thirdgen, although you may need an inexpensive wire harness adapter, which you can get at most car stereo stores. You may need the cheesy metal ears or tabs, but you can get those from any junkyard 82-92 GM radio, or off yours if you have one.

Note: the factory radio in my 1987 IROC has green illumination - I bought it from the original owner, and I know I still have the original am/fm tape with EQ. The only ones I recall having yellow were the 90 to 92, or 91-92 (?) that had yellow on the buttons. I don't recall the color of the illumination, though.
