Speaker covers won't stay on

I had a system installed in my car last year, and by the end of the summer my front 4X6's blew, so I got new ones under warranty. However, it was winter when they came in and I didn't want to wait 'til summer to have them installed so my buddy and I did ourselves. The problem now is that the speakers sit too high and the covers won't stay on... occassionally on a hot day they will stay down but the rest of the time the pop up and flop around. This is really annoying... does anyone know why they're doing this? Obviously the speakers aren't sitting down low enough, but I can't figure out why... they're the exact same speakers. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I'm assuming you mean the covers on the dash pad? Did you reinstall the speed nuts on the four studs that hold the cover on?

mmmmmmm no....... I did not know there were any, I've always just popped them off with a coin or something and then put them back on. It's never been a problem until I put these new speakers in. What are speed nuts?

little tin nuts that screw into the plastic studs on the back of the grills.

But if you managed to yank yours off with a coin, my guess is that the little plastic studs are long gone already.
